Judging by all the fanfare that usually accompanies the annual Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list, likening it as the Academy Awards of the culinary world isn’t too much of a stretch. Naturally, this also means that restaurants (and their chefs) who are lucky enough to make it onto the coveted list are then elevated to culinary super stardom, and everyone will be clamouring for a piece of the action.

Right here in Singapore, the ten restaurants that found placement in the list are about to get a lot harder to reserve a seat at. Chef Andre Chiang’s eponymous restaurant leads the pack with a 5th placing, retaining its title of The S.Pellegrino Best Restaurant in Singapore, while new entrant Burnt Ends debuts at an impressive 30th. Other restaurants include: Waku Ghin (#9), JAAN (#11), Les Amis (#13), Iggy’s (#18), Shinji by Kanesaka (#32), Tippling Club (#36), Osteria Mozza (#45) and Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck (#47).

Not daunted yet? Then ready your wallets (and stomachs). Here’s how much it will cost you to dine at the top 10 restaurants in Singapore.

Restaurant Andre

A perennial favourite with critics and foodies (with deep pockets) alike, Restaurant Andre is chef Andre Chiang’s platform for showcasing his Octaphilosophy-driven (read: the eight elements of Pure, Salt, Artisan, Texture, South, Unique, Memory and Terrior) cuisine.

Price range: $128 per person for set lunch (Wednesday and Friday only); $298 per person for set dinner (Tuesday to Sunday)

Waku Ghin

The price of the dinner menu at Waku Ghin is steep, but you are guaranteed an intimate dining experience (just 25 guests are admitted at each seating, and you’re ushered into each of the four private rooms where a chef prepares the food in front of you) and flawlessly executed food that’s worth every cent of the splurge

Price range: $400 per person for the degustation menu; dinner only.

JAAN

Despite JAAN’s moneyed location on top of Swissotel, chef Julien Royer’s modern French cuisine is refined, but never pretentious; innovative but rustic at heart.

Price range: $68 per person for set lunch; from $198 per person for set dinner

Iggy’s

Iggy’s might have found itself relatively under the radar given the spate of new chic restaurant openings, but it still retains a loyal group of diners who are fans of its modern European cuisine.

Price range: From $85 per person for set lunch; $235 per person for set dinner

Burnt Ends

Burnt Ends is notoriously difficult to get a seat at (no reservations except for its counter seats for the 6pm and 6:30pm seatings) but try hard enough, and you might just end for yourself a coveted spot to sample chef David Pynt’s modern interpretation of open-flame cooking (think: refined versions of barbecue classics).

Price range: The menu changes daily but average meal for two costs about $150

Shinji by Kanesaka

Renowned chef Shinji Kanesaka’s first Singapore outpost is a serene sanctuary in which to sample the best and unadulterated freshness of Japanese seafood.

Price range: From $75 per person for set lunch; from $220 per person for set dinner, $250 per person for omakase

Tippling Club

At first glance, Chef Ryan Clift’s modern, progressive style (think amuse bouches in test tubes and use of flavoured smokes) isn’t for everyone. But open your mind, and it’s hard not to be impressed and awed by chef’s artistic vision and deft hand at showcasing ingredients in ways never thought possible before.

Price range: From $43 per person for set lunch; From $160 per person for a tasting menu

Osteria Mozza

The Italian favourite (it’s set up by famed chef Mario Batali, Masterchef’s Joe Bastianch and Nancy Silverton) is popular with diners looking for a hearty Italian dinner without having to break the bank.

Price range: From $16 for antipasti; from $24 for a pasta; from $42 for a main course

Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck

As it name suggests, Imperial Treasure’s piece de resistance is its peking duck, which is roasted to crisp perfection using only traditional methods. A firm favourite with families on special occasions.

Price range: From $88 per person for a set menu (minimum of six persons)
