Is G-Dragon leaving YG Entertainment after 17 years?

YG Entertainment has addressed the rumours surrounding G-Dragon's future with the agency. There was speculation about the Big Bang member’s departure from the company, as his profile was missing on the company website. His name was also omitted from YG Entertainment's business report for the first quarter of 2023. 

However, YG Entertainment has clarified the situation, stating that G-Dragon's absence from the agency's artist roster was merely a "system error" and that his contract has now expired.

A representative from YG Entertainment confirmed the expiration of G-Dragon's exclusive contract and revealed that discussions are underway regarding various options, including partial contracts for activities such as advertisements. The agency expressed its willingness to negotiate a new contract with G-Dragon and provide full support if he decides to resume his music career in the near future.

While G-Dragon's exclusive contract has expired after 17 years with YG Entertainment, the details of his future endeavours are yet to be confirmed. It remains uncertain whether the K-pop titan will negotiate a new contract, explore opportunities with a different company, or even pursue an independent career.

Earlier this year, TOP confirmed that he has officially left the group. Meanwhile, Taeyang and Daesung are now managed under THE BLACK LABEL, a subsidiary of YG Entertainment.
