Give your food delivery apps a break and step away from your usual fast food takeout – there are plenty of reasons to dine out. For starters, our round-up of places to eat and drink in Singapore features limited-time collaborations with local F&B names at snazzy hotels. Here’s our pick.

Ed’s pick: Not your typical Peranakan spread

There’s more to Peranakan cuisine than babi pongteh and Nonya chap chye. At the second edition of Amara Singapore’s Local Legends culinary pop-up series, chef Damian D’Silva dishes out lesser-known Peranakan-Eurasian specialities alongside popular Chinese-Peranakan favourites.

Eat this: Of the eight dishes on the a la carte menu, the Eurasian lamb dhalcha is a warm and comforting stew meant for sharing – though you’ll probably want it all to yourself. Damien’s dhalcha is hearty and satisfying, with generous portions of tender lamb chunks.

Rempapa’s popular kedondong salad – made with buah long long (also known as kedondong fruit in Indonesia), thinly sliced ginger flower, and wing beans – makes an appearance here. Its tangy, citrusy aroma, paired with crunchy-sweet peanut brittle, adds to its addictive appeal.

Lastly, the ever-popular ayam buah keluak – a dish the MasterChef Singapore judge admits he rarely cooks – is a must-try (again). The rich, savoury sauce, simmered and left overnight to thicken, is best enjoyed with fluffy steamed rice, while the fall-off-the-bone chicken will leave you wanting more.

What else: Choose between a three- or five-course sharing plate set menu, priced at $60++ and $70++ per person respectively, inclusive of homemade acar and a kueh platter. A minimum of two diners is required. These dishes are also available a la carte.

Damian D’Silva’s Local Legends pop-up is available at Amara Singapore from 2 to 17 April 2025.

Fancy afternoon tea with Old Chang Kee

Tea-time canapes go local at Pullman Hill Street Singapore’s afternoon tea tie-up with Old Chang Kee. While you can expect beloved Old Chang Kee snacks like the curry potato puff and sardine puff in fun-sized versions, this limited-time collaboration features a special creation: the laksa shrimp vol au vent with 8 Gems caviar. Essentially a flaky puff pastry, it’s made with Old Chang Kee’s signature laksa paste.

Just when we thought local street food couldn’t get any fancier, sweet endings arrive in the form of ondeh ondeh cakes, pandan scones with kaya and whipped cream, and gula melaka mousse with mango jelly.

From $88++ for two, available Mondays to Saturdays from 3 March to 30 April 2025, with seatings from 2-4pm or 4-6pm. Includes coffee, tea, Kopi C or Teh Tarik. Add two hours of free-flow Champagne and wines for $78++ per person. More information here.
