Whether it is bak kwa or satay, we humans have found a love for grilled meats. Grilling not only condenses the savoury depth that meat has, but it also enhances the flavour through the Maillard reaction.

Kebabs are another form of grilled meat that has found widespread favour in Singapore. The style of cooking originates from the Middle East where proteins such as chicken, lamb and beef are first spiced and marinated before being grilled or roasted. Kebabs are then served in a myriad of ways. You can have them in a wrap or alongside fries and rice. Those who want a more balanced meal can have them with salad too.

Ready to tuck into the umami, meat-filled world of kebabs? Here are the 10 best places for kebabs in Singapore.

Two Guys

1/10

Two Guys is the brainchild of Egyptian chef Ahmed Eldewy. He has been working in Singapore for over six years now, previously in the kitchens of local hotels before opening his own hawker stall in Seah Im Food Centre. Here, he celebrates his roots by offering Egyptian and Middle Eastern fare. The kebabs (from $6.90), available with either chicken or lamb, are the bestsellers. For a taste of Egypt, get the Hawawshi (from $7.90) featuring minced meat stuffed into pitas.

Located right at Tampines MRT station (the East-West line side), Damascus Delights was started by Abdulhadi Al Saadi in June 2023. He fled Syria due to the instability and later found his way to Singapore after marrying a Singaporean he had met at his restaurant in Kuala Lumpur. At the takeaway kiosk, Damascus Delights offers Shawarma ($8.50), the Middle Eastern take on the Turkish doner kebab, where he would slice meat off a rotating hunk of meat (either chicken or lamb) and serve it with your choice of a wrap, rice, platter or salad.

As such, waiting time can quickly stack up but fans are more than willing to wait for its hearty kebabs filled with either chicken, lamb or both (from $9).
