A set of free weights disguised as cutlery has taken the saying 'no pain, no weight gain' to a whole new level. Picked up by eco-site Treehugger.com last week, the Dumb-Bell Cutlery set is handmade and forces diners to perform mini bicep curls as they lift the forks and spoons to their mouths.

Featured on Canadian website Thecheeky.com, knives and forks weigh 1 kg (2.2 lbs) each while the dessert spoon clocks in at 2 kg (4.4 lbs) -- perhaps to make the most calorific course even more labor intensive.

The whole set costs CA$160 but, as the website bluntly points out, postage and packaging is going to be rather expensive.

Meanwhile, trendspotting site Trendhunter catalogued 23 different "cutting edge" cultery designs that include glow-in-the-dark knives and forks and sauce dispensing chopsticks.
