Deepavali, or as some would call it Diwali, is a celebration known all over the world as the Festival of Lights. The religious festival is a major event in the Hindu calendar, and marks the triumph of good over evil and, symbolically, light over darkness. And while the five-day celebration involves lots of colour, rituals and music, we’re most excited about the wide variety of food options that we can see ourselves digging into over the weekend.
So if you’ve still not planned where to go for your meals during the Deepavali celebration, look no further. Ahead, we’ve done the legwork to find some of the best Indian restaurants in Singapore for your celebratory feast.
Go on an epicurean journey through the richly diverse Punjab region over at Punjab Grill. The restaurant, located at Marina Bay Sands will be having a special Diwali menu this weekend and will be priced at $129 a person. Expect savoury snacks such as applewood-smoked baby potato and starfruit tossed in tamarind, before indulging in mouthwatering appetisers like the Amritsari prawn with sundried tomato served with Szechuan chutney, and lamb seekh kebab cannoli. For mains, try the dum biryani with Punjabi korma, lentils with burnt garlic and fresh baby spinach, before ending your meal on a sweet note with a platter of sweets.

Helmed by Chef Damian D’Silva, Rempapa has just added two dishes to the menu for Deepavali. Available from now till 24 October, you can look forward to unique dishes like Kool, a northern Sri Lankan speciality, that’s made with seafood including fish, crab, prawns and cuttlefish, as well as vegetables such as long beans, sliced tapioca and jackfruit seed. However, before you head down, we recommend that you call in, as the dish itself requires a three-day advance order. Another hearty dish that will be on the menu is the Lamb Dhalcha, that’s carefully made with tender lamb ribs and bacon bones, and comes with three pieces of chapati.
