Steamer baskets that reveal glistening har gow and siew mai; silky smooth rice rolls and crystal dumplings; tender buns stuffed generously with meat. A hearty dim sum meal is always a good idea, and luckily for us, plenty of restaurants around the island serve up delicious dim sum fare.

Whether you prefer traditional bites or enjoy trying out new flavours, here are some restaurants in Singapore where you can get your dim sum fix. 

Red House Seafood

Red House Seafood offers a cosy and chic setting for digging into their handcrafted dim sum, made from scratch with the freshest of ingredients. The a la carte menu and dim sum menu feature a delectable range that includes traditional dim sum favourites and creative Red House-exclusive options that incorporate the brand’s signature Singapore Nanyang-style seafood cuisine. If you’re feeling extra hungry, indulge in their dim sum and champagne buffet where you can devour a feast of artisanal dim sum and free-flow Champagne Devaux.

Highlights include the beautifully crafted Purple Potato Swan Dumpling ($9.80++ for 3) which features a medley of sweet potato, chicken, char siew, and mushrooms within a crispy, crunchy dumpling; the Truffle Wild Mushroom Tart that’s buttery and flaky, infused with aromatic truffle ($9.80++ for 3); and the Teochew Style Seafood Porridge ($28++) that’s soulful and comforting, with various seafood ingredients simmered in a lala broth and rice grains that are prepared Teochew-style, where rice grains are still intact adding texture to the porridge. If you are looking to have an indulgent dim sum weekend buffet brunch, head down to Hai Tien Lo at Pan Pacific Hotel. Headed by Executive Chef Ricky Leung, the award-winning Cantonese restaurant has a wide variety of dim sum creations, appetisers and main courses on the buffet menu that will be sure to please all palates. From their Duo of Lobster – Steamed with Egg White and Black Truffles($42++) accompanied with Double-boiled Fish Maw with Bamboo Pith in Fish Bone Broth ($68++) to their Specialty Sliced Beijing Duck with Black Caviar, Avocado and Vegetarian Bean Curd Skin served with Homemade Chinese Pancakes ($128++) — you certainly are in for a feast.

Yan Ting

For an exquisite Cantonese fine dining experience, dine in style at this sophisticated and contemporary restaurant. Yan Ting’s Dim Sum Set Menu consists of mouth-watering treats such as Marinated Jelly Fish with Black Fungus and Truffle Sauce ($18++), Deep-Fried Phoenix-Tailed Prawns ($9.80++ for 3), and Oven-baked Barbecued Pork Pastry Buns with Sesame ($8.80++ for 3). From specialty cold dishes to barbecued delights and nourishing soups, their a la carte menu is absolutely worth salivating over.

Jade Palace Seafood Restaurant

Serving fine Cantonese cuisine since 1998, Jade Palace is a highly popular spot for dim sum. The never-ending stream of diners flocks here to feast on classics such as har gao – plump prawns wrapped with translucent skin, silky smooth cheong fun, traditional roast pork and char siew. The restaurants also serves one of the best crispy-skinned roast duck in town, along with specialties, Sautéed White Eel with Chives in Black bean sauce and Braised Lobster with Ginger and Scallion in a claypot. An assortment of set lunches are priced at $49.80++ for 2 pax and $198++ for 4 pax.

Look out for the dim sum and Peking duck set lunch featuring Peking duck, stewed noodles with shredded duck fillet and other scrumptious dishes.

Summer Pavilion

A one-Michelin-star restaurant, Summer Pavilion is the top spot for fine dim sum. Dine on classic steamed items as well as more unusual creations like Baked Abalone Puff with assorted mushrooms ($13++ per piece) or Deep-fried Lobster Roll with prawn paste ($5++ per piece). Or tuck into their scrumptious Braised Superior Bird’s Nest ($158++). You might want to consider pairing your meal with artisanal tea blends such as the aromatic Lychee Oolong ($7++) or Jasmine Green tea ($7++), curated by Tea Bone Zen Mind.

Summer Palace

This one-Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant is another great spot to head to for dim sum. Signature dim sum dishes such as Sea Whelk Dumpling ($12++), Conpoy Siew Mai ($12++), and the unique Sticky Rice Lotus Leaf ($15++) are a must-try on the menu. Alternatively, order the Daily Premium Lunch Set including savoury dishes such as Braised Lobster Meat and Crispy Roasted Duck ($188++ per person) or ask for the premium Prosperity set including top delicacies such as Wok-fried Lobster, Wagyu Beef, and Stir-fried Bird’s Nest ($598++ per person).

Indulge in the classic Barbecued Pork with Osmanthus flower honey ($38++), the extraordinary Wok-fried Farmed Crocodile ($52++) or the must-order Baked Stuffed Crab Shell with crab meat, mushroom and onion ($30++ per serving). Every month, new dim sum that showcases special flavours of seasonal ingredients will also be introduced into the menu.
