This new café in town is by the same folks behind Fatcat Ice Cream Bar. Besides serving up their famed charcoal waffle with salted egg yolk sauce that they were known for in their original Bedok outlet, Stray also serves up other desserts like their aesthetically arresting Keep Popping, sweet liquid pops sitting on wooden spoons that explode in your mouth. Also try their Commando’s Favourite, a pretty display of lychee soft serve speckled with nostalgic ice gem biscuits, longan, red tea jelly, and edible flowers.

Shop Wonderland Café & Floral Studio

Once located along hipster street Haji Lane, Shop Wonderland has recently moved to its new location in Telok Ayer Street. It hasn’t lost its whimsy—the space is decked out in the most gorgeous blooms and foliage; it doubles as a floral studio after all. Desserts here are perfect for Instagram, decked in edible florals and served in dainty plates. Try the Raspberry Pistachio Cake, where moist layers of rose-scented sponge cake is enveloped in a thick and mildly sweet raspberry frosty. Pistachio bits in between help to cut the sweetness while adding crunch. For savoury desserts, go for the Maple Bacon Cinnamon Teacake—because who can resist bacon?

The flourishing of garden-themed food haunts is joined by Wildseed Café, which is located in a sprawling mansion at new dining enclave Seletar Aersospace Park. Wildseed serves a range of sweet treats and among the array is the Honey Lemon Rosemary Tart, a delicious lemon tart decked out in roasted meringue and sprigs of sugar-coated rosemary. There is also the Peranakan-inspired Pea Flower Coconut Muffin, a fluffy, blue indulgence with a coconut gula melaka filling.

It seems you can’t have a new restaurant or café list without listing down a new Korean place. And Patbingsoo is it for this list. The café at Plaza Singapura serves comfort Korean fare, but it is their bingsu that have been drawing the crowd and the pictures on social media. We love their refreshing Sinsa Patbingsoo, which is a rock melon carved and stuffed with vanilla ice cream, red beans, cornflakes and nata de coco. Alternatively, go for their Bibim Patbingsoo, which combines fruits, jellies, red bean paste, vanilla ice cream and strawberry sauce decked atop shaved ice and milk to look like a real bibimbap.

Hailing from Bangkok, this dessert house is mainly known for their lava cookies, where it’s basically a cookie version of a lava cake. These heart-stopping desserts are filled with a filling that flows out when you cut into it and is served topped with an ice cream of your choice. Whilst we love the Red Devil, a red velvet lava cookie injected with a sinful cream cheese filling, the flowing effect of the “lava” could have been more pronounced. For matcha fans, you will love the Monster Matcha, which has a gooey matcha filling encrusted in chunky soft-baked cookie.

Bee’s Knees

Bee’s Knees is housed inside a gorgeous 1920s Art Deco garage within the Botanic Gardens, and is part of a culinary concept called The Garage, which also comprises the restaurant Botanica, which has a seasonality-driven menu. Bee’s Knees, on the other hand, is a casual café opened for brunch with  a modest but delicious dessert menu. Popular choices include their Lemon Rosemary Tart, which appears like an uncontained bloom and their Caramelised Apples with Cranberries Waffles.
