There’s something about basking in Singapore’s mid-afternoon sun over a latte and pastry against the backdrop of skyline views, lush greenery or a front-row seat to the city’s buzz below. Rooftop cafes are the new IT spots, perfect for everything from first dates to solo work stations or coffee breaks. 

Whether you’re chasing the next viral cafe, planning a brunch date or simply looking  to experience Singapore from a different vantage point, these rooftop cafes promise great coffee, delicious bites and views that are worth climbing for. Alani

Brunch at Alani feels like a mini escape to a Euro-summer oasis. Perched on top of KADA at Maxwell in the heart of the CBD, this Mediterranean cafe is filled with plants and vibrant colours, brought to life by a mix of ambient and natural lighting. Take your pick from their assortment of pastries, selection of sourdough breads, or opt for their popular items like their Sarikopita pie ($16), which is a greek fried pastry with rich cheese filling, Greek Breakfast Platter ($), or their San Marzano Tomato & Burrata ($18).

Pout

Of course, we had to include the newly opened viral Pout cafe in our selection. By now, you’ve probably seen its signature circle-shaped window flooding your social feeds, along with perfectly styled pastries and drinks framed against the Marina Bay skyline. The cozy, wood interior cafe in the CMO building serves assorted bakes, paninis, and unique drinks like a Peanut Butter Mocha ($7.90) and a Pistachio Oat Milk latte ($9.90). What’s more, after the sun sets, Pout transforms into its alter ego, Abode Bar, which makes for an intimate rooftop bar with amazing nighttime skyline views. One word of advice: arrive early, because queues are common—even on weekday afternoons.

Pout cafe: Open daily from 9am-530pm, with the exception of Thursday of which Pout is open till 5pm.

Abode bar: Open Tuesday to Saturday from 630pm-12am. Closed on Sunday and Monday.

Frankie and Ferns

Tucked away on the rooftop of Holland Road Shopping Centre, Frankie and Ferns is a roof terrace cafe that feels like the cozy abode of your artsy friend. Think warm ambient lighting, a counter that resembles a home kitchen, shelves lined with wine bottles, ceramics, books and other charming knick-knacks, plus an alfresco terrace overlooking the Holland Village neighbourhood.

The menu features brunch favourites like hearty breakfast plates, steak and eggs, and avocado toast, alongside standout dishes such as the Potato Mille Feuille ($13), Herb Butter Linguine and Roasted Short Rib Toast ($23). Come evening, the café switches to a dinner menu, making it an equally charming spot for an intimate date night.

Third Floor Social

On top of Design Orchard is Third Floor Social, a cozy cafe that offers a break from the bustle of orchard road. Its spacious interior feels comfortable and homey – plush sofas, coffee tables with display books and candles, an open kitchen to watch your food being made, and floor to ceiling glass windows that flood the space with natural light. You can step onto the outdoor terrace for a bird’s-eye view of the city too. 

When you’re there, opt for their brunch favourites like the Pizzette Mortadella ($16), Salted tahini ice cream with churros ($12), and NOT a mcmuffin ($14), consisting of a grilled milk bun with housemade sausage, fluffy omelette. If you’re visiting later in the day, the cafe also serves dinner and cocktails, with extended opening hours from Tuesday to Saturday.

The Pure Imagination cafe by Janice Wong, Supertree Observatory

The Pure Imagination cafe by Janice Wong at the top of the Supertree Observatory in Gardens by the Bay (GBTB) is nothing short of a tourist’s dream. You’ll get to pair the breathtaking views of the GBTB and Marina Bay skyline with beautiful artisanal confectioneries and elevated cocktails, making it an idyllic spot for a romantic date or a well-deserved afternoon treat. Do note that entry to the cafe requires a Supertree Observatory ticket. Open from morning till evening, it’s the perfect place to end a day of exploring GBTB on a sweet note.
