The new restaurant L’Entrecôte at Duxton Hill promises “scrumptious simplicity of real French bistro food” with its signature steak frites (pictured).

The concept was established in Paris 80 years ago and has been brought to Singapore by two French restauranteurs, Olivier Bendel and Loic Martenot who have 20 years of culinary experience each.

Steak frites is basically a dish consisting of entrecôte – a French term for a premium cut of steak – which is doled out in two servings with a secret sauce; the second kept warm on burners while diners eat the first.

A second batch of French fries is also prepared to ensure guests still get hot fries with their second serving of steak. The meal is rounded off with a fresh green salad with mustard dressing and walnuts.

The dessert menu includes vacherin du bistrot, meringue with vanilla ice cream and hot chocolate sauce; the real profiteroles, freshly baked choux pastry and more.

A complimentary aperitif, kir, is served at the beginning of each meal. It’s a European favourite consisting of refreshing white wine lightly sweetened with blackcurrant liquor.

There’s also a wine list with vintage and international bottles like the Cuvee de L’Entrecôte, a 2008 Château des Carmes Cantillac available exclusively at the bistro.
