Our picks:

Hawker’s Dream Ale – Singapore Beer Project

ABV: 4.4%

A versatile beer, The Hawker’s Dream Ale isn’t just limited to the taste buds of your neighbourhood hawker. It is not only smooth but possesses a very light flavour that is filled with a good mix of pine, citrus and tropical aromas. If you are not one for strong beers with richer bodies, The Hawker’s Dream Ale will become a quick favourite. Pair this drink with any of your favourite hawker foods and it will wash down the grease without compromising flavour.

ABV: 6.0%

Fun and fruity, the Citrus Family by Daryl’s Urban Ales is not your average saison. Featuring an interesting combination of ingredients like yuzu and sanshou pepper, this beer gets better with every sip. The yuzu adds a flavourful surprise to the spiciness from the saison yeast and rye malt. A definite conversation starter, this is a drink that should be present at all parties.

Available at: Good Luck Beerhouse, Smith Street Taps, 3rd Culture Brewing Co.

Passionfruit Wheat – Pasteur Street Brewing &Co.

ABV: 4%

Sweet, fruity and slightly tart – that’s what you get with Pasteur Street Brewing & Co.’s beer. Pasteur Street Brewing Co. started with a simple idea to combine American craft brewing techniques with Fresh and Exotic Vietnamese ingredients to create amazing craft beer. This passion fruit flavoured beer is all you can ask for in a can. It is light, crisp, refreshing and yes, crushable.

Available at: Brewerzk (Clarke Quay), Redmart, Thirsty Beer Shop outlets in Singapore

Tanglin Gin – Tanglin Gin

ABV: 42%

Representing Singapore in a bottle is a difficult feat. However, Tanglin Gin may very well be on its way to becoming the country’s national gin. The typical gin you get off the shelves at stores leaves the usual bitter burn after sliding smoothly down your throat. Laden with botanical notes and a light and creamy flavour, the Tanglin Gin flirts with your palate as soon as it hits your tongue. The gin is best drunk on its own as you will be able to savour its floral notes that may get drowned out by mixers. However, if you must add something to it, a bit of orange and ice will light up your drink.

Mayan Dark – Super Loco x Trouble Brewing

ABV: 4.2%

A cross between a dark ale and a traditional stout, the Mayan Dark is a cult favourite. Paying homage to the revered cacao plant in the ancient Mesoamerican civilisation, the coffee infusion is no gimmick – the rich cocoa and smooth coffee notes transform the beer into a drink that is brunch-ready. Pair it with tea cakes and sweet treats, your brunch will never be the same (you can now have beer at brunch, how is that not exciting?).
