Local actor and singer Glenn Yong has become one of the most divisive figures in Singapore’s entertainment scene. Known for his roles in Ah Girls Go Army and his rising music career, the 29-year-old often finds himself under intense scrutiny, with critics targeting his social media posts, live performances, and overall public persona.

TikToker @zelleee.mp4 even posted a video questioning why he continues to attract so much flak, while podcast channel The Daily Ketchup Podcast explored the phenomenon in a 50-minute interview titled “Why Singaporeans Love to Hate Glenn Yong”, where he candidly discussed dealing with criticism from naysayers.

Glenn’s shirtless appearances have become one of the most talked-about aspects of his public persona—a point he himself addressed in The Daily Ketchup Podcast

Speaking about his polarising Countdown performance, he explained how going shirtless has become part of his branding: “That is the branding… if you don’t show now, in the next ten years you’ll be 40, and people will say you’re an uncle. So let’s do it while I’m still young.”

Whether fans see it as a confident statement or a calculated bid for attention, it has sparked endless debate online. From concerts to public events, Glenn’s decision to bare his torso continues to divide opinions, making it one of the most recognisable and controversial facets of his career. Here, we look back at some of the times he went shirtless.
