Beijing – Hugging and kissing his wife of five months, Chinese-American pop star Wang Leehom announced at a party after his Sunday concert in Xian that they are having a baby.

Taiwanese-Japanese doctoral student Michiko Nishimura, alias Li Jinglei, is said to be five months pregnant, reported NetEase website yesterday. She wore a loose top and flats at the party, said the report.

Wang, who celebrated his 38th birthday last Saturday, held his 27-year-old wife and said: “Thank you for giving me the greatest gift.”

He announced that he and his wife would soon start a new life as “one plus one equals three”, and kissed her, adding: “Thank you for always being with me.”

He said he did not know the gender of the baby, but had nicknamed the child Wang Yi, or Wang The First. Fans call the star Wang Er, or Wang The Second, and Yi has the fewest strokes, the singer said with a laugh.

He said he was moved to tears when he heard of his wife’s pregnancy. She will give birth in Taiwan, where postnatal care is better, he added.
