The year was 1994. English pop group Spice Girls was born.

The band — originally consisting Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell and Victoria Beckham — skyrocketed to fame with their debut hit ‘Wannabe’.

Their success continued into the late 1990s.

The girls eventually disbanded in 2000 but reunited two years later to promote Viva Forever: The Musical in London.

To date, Spice Girls has released four albums including a compilation record titled Greatest Hits.

23-year-old Beckham began to date former footballer David Beckham. The pair met at a football match and Victoria immediately fell head over heels in love .

In an interview with British Vogue, Victoria confessed in a letter to her younger self.

“Yes, love at first sight does exist,” she wrote. “It will happen to you in the Manchester United players' lounge — although you will get a little drunk, so exact details are hazy."

The high profile couple wedded in Ireland and naturally sent fans and media into a frenzy. Singer Elton John was also supposed to perform at their wedding but later suffered a heart attack according to Vanity Fair.

No word yet on whether it was due to the sight of the shocking purple ensemble the couple wore later at their wedding reception. Or Beckham’s top hat. Or both.

Welcoming their new born

In March, Victoria and David welcomed their first son Brooklyn.

Fast forward to now, the 18-year-old has already tried out modelling, football as well as take on the photographer’s role to shoot campaign images for Burberry’s fragrance last year.

Post Spice Girls, Beckham went solo and released her first single titled Out of your mind in 2000.

After a few solo hits, she eventually ended her singing career in 2004. Radio stations around the world collectively heaved a sigh of relief.

In between her roles as a wife, mum and businesswoman, Victoria still managed to find time to launch her first collection for her eponymous label in September 2008.

Her low-key presentation, which consisted of 10 dresses, was met with scepticism from fashion critics according to The Guardian.

This was especially because the celebrity hadn’t had any formal design training.

But her hard work and determination earned praises from Vogue editors and fashion lovers eventually.

In fact, Victoria Beckham the label clinched the Brand of the year title twice at the British Fashion Awards in 2011 and 2014.

To further prove her success as a fashion designer, Victoria was also nominated the prestigious Womenswear Designer of the Year award at the British Fashion Awards in 2015.

The title was eventually awarded to fellow British designer Jonathan Anderson, founder of his own namesake label J.W. Anderson and creative director of Loewe.

Today, the fashion label has expanded to include eyewear, shoes and accessories.

Earlier this year, David was attacked by hackers, leading to a leak of his personal emails that revealed his rants on flying business class for a Unicef event appearance as well as not being named Sir David.

The former footballer was also accused of calling offensive names at the honours committee, reported the Daily Mail.

Victoria has just celebrated her 43rd birthday on April 17, 2017.

To make this year’s birthday even more special, the designer was awarded the OBE from Prince William for her contributions to the fashion industry.

The ceremony took place at the Buckingham Palace two days after her birthday.

In a BBC report, Victoria said: "It was an absolute pleasure to be at Buckingham Palace today. I'm proud to be British, honoured and humbled to receive my OBE from the Duke of Cambridge. If you dream big and work hard you can accomplish great things.”
