Singapore is quickly becoming the iconic global city of our generation and here’s how we know — first our skyline was blown up in the latest Hollywood blockbuster and now pop royalty are casually spotted clubbing in the city’s hottest nightspot, Baliza like it’s no big deal.

The club told Stomp the Hollywood celebrity Selena Gomez was really recently spotted at one of Singapore’s newest club, Baliza. The young 24-year-old celebrity was seen with her group of friends popping bottles of Dom Perignon and doing what most of us would like to do at a nightclub – having a good time.

According to Baliza’s marketing manager, Mr Sandeep S, the club was not informed beforehand that Gomez would be visiting.

He told The New Paper: “Initially, our door staff did not recognise them… they automatically got in line in the general admission queue.

“After several minutes, someone from their group approached us and requested a VIP sofa in our Hip Hop Room. Even then, they did not identify themselves or mention that Selena was part of the group.

“It was only when they made their way into the premises, one of our VIP servers noticed Selena was there.”

Student Jasmine M, 20, was “really, really starstruck” when she saw Gomez at Baliza at Raffles Boulevard.

She told TNP: “I saw her right after I walked into the club at about 11.30pm and she stayed till about 2am…

“We weren’t allowed to take pictures. Security would shine their flashlights whenever they saw a phone appear so she was left alone.

“We were disappointed but obviously if one person took a picture with her, the entire club would want to and it would’ve turned into a mini meet-and-greet.”

Gomez also posted a video on Snapchat and photos on Instagram of that night at Baliza.
