Rihanna kicked out of Abu Dhabi mosque

Rihanna is up to her raunchy ways again.

After a live performance in Abu Dhabi, the pop princess took time off to visit the capital’s Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque complex, one of the largest Muslim places of worship in the world and a major tourist attraction for Muslims and non-Muslims alike.

Before she could plant her stilettoed foot onto the grounds itself, however, religious authorities performed a pre-emptive strike, asking her to leave on account of the pictures she took just outside the mosque.

In a statement on its website, a spokesperson from the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre said: “The singer entered on a private visit without introducing herself and without prior coordination with the administration.”

“She was asked to leave before entering the mosque after she posed in ways that do not match the sacred status [of the mosque].”

The pictures in question can be viewed on the 25-year-old superstar’s Instagram account. They depict her posing in the courtyard of the mosque in a black jumpsuit and headscarf.

While her hair and body are entirely clothed, her crimson lips and lacquered nails, coupled with pictures of her reclining on her back, may be construed as suggestive or disrespectful to some Muslims. Judge for yourself if Rihanna’s pictures were deserving of a ban.
