If you’ve been wondering what Singaporean Mandopop icon Stefanie Sun has been up to lately, here’s your update – and yes, she’s still effortlessly flying under the radar.
According to 8Days, the famously private singer-songwriter, 47, was recently spotted with her husband Nadim van der Ros and their two children while out shopping at Great World City shopping mall. The unexpected sighting was first shared by a Xiaohongshu user who captured the moment from a distance, seemingly recognising Nadim before realising that Stefanie herself was also in frame.
Dressed in a simple blue tee and white bermuda shorts, Stefanie looked relaxed as she strolled with her family. Her son, almost 13, walked slightly ahead, while her younger daughter stayed close. At one point, when the little girl seemed upset, Stefanie knelt beside her to talk things through calmly – a small moment that fans online later praised for its warmth and patience.
Commenters were quick to applaud her for being “down to earth,” as 8Days noted, with many highlighting how respectful the original poster was for keeping the children’s faces out of frame.
Though she’s stayed mostly out of the tabloid circuit in recent years, Sun’s presence in the Chinese music scene hasn’t faded. Since her 2000 debut, she’s remained one of the region’s most enduring artists, known for hits like “Cloudy Day”, “What I Miss”, and “The Moment”. She’s also been credited with helping put Singapore on the Mandopop map alongside fellow exports JJ Lin and Tanya Chua.
Married since 2011, Stefanie and Nadim keep a low profile but have occasionally made headlines for his philanthropic work. As 8Days reported, he recently received a High Commendation Award at the Singapore Red Cross Awards, with Stefanie attending the ceremony in support. In an Instagram post, Nadim wrote, “None of this would be possible without the support of my amazing wife and kids.”
Despite her quiet lifestyle, 2025 has been a busy one. Sun kicked off her long-awaited Aut Nihilo: Sun Yanzi in Concert tour in Singapore earlier this year and has since brought the show to several cities across China. Between stops, she appears to be spending her downtime just the way fans would expect: under the radar with her family.
