Oh no Stefanie Sun shows off injuries from ‘being vain’! B.pngImage: Video still

Stop the presses and sound the klaxons. Stefanie Sun has been maimed and mangled!

Okay, Stefanie supporters can stand down. Our national nightingale is just a little roughed up – and all for the sake of beauty, really.

Here’s what went down. Just this week, Stefanie posted a snapshot on Weibo depicting the wounded warbler looking a little worse for wear: Her feet were flecked with bluish bruises that snaked their way up her ankles and calves. Accompanying caption? “The price female stars pay for being vain.”

Shoe snobs should find those criss-crossed marks familiar; they look for all the world like the tell-tale badges of honour you rack up from girding yourself in gladiator-style strappy heels that are a skosh too tight for comfort.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the superstar’s scars have provoked a flurry of frantic missives from concerned fans. One responded to the Weibo post by beseeching her to “stop wearing those shoes”, while another said: “You can wear sports shoes to perform, we won’t look down on you.” Aw.

The Singapore songbird can be seen doing her thing at this weekend’s starry Sing50 concert, alongside other marquee musicians like fellow Singapore son JJ Lin. Here’s hoping her achy-breaky feet won’t put her off her stride, so to speak. Good luck, Stefanie!
