What do Dawn Yeoh, Desiree Siaahan and Christabel Campbell all have in common? Aside from being well-known celebrities and models, they all were discovered through The New Paper New Face competition, an annual modelling contest launched by The New Paper to discover fresh faces for the modelling industry and show business.
Back for its 19th year and bigger than ever, the winner this year will kick-start her modelling career with a Maybelline contract worth $10,000 in addition to the $10,000 cash prize she’ll be receiving. The first and second runners-up will each win $5,000 and $3,000 cash respectively.
Two new subsidiary titles – The New Paper Best Catwalk and InnerShine Miss Radiant Skin – have been added to the competition, alongside the other four subsidiary titles from previous years, namely The New Paper Miss Popularity, Subaru Miss Vivacious, Miss Levi’s, and InnerShine Miss Beautiful Eyes.
The contestants aren’t the only ones who will be walking away with prizes. Six readers will also stand to win $500 worth of Takashimaya vouchers just by voting for Miss Popularity.
Judging the twenty fresh-faced finalists are an esteemed panel of six comprising Ms Natalie Soh, Deputy Editor of The New Paper on Sunday; Mr Glenn Tan, Executive Director of Tan Chong International Ltd; Mr Vincent Ong, General Manager of Consumer Products Division, L’Oreal Singapore; Ms Maureen Wee, Managing Director of SPH Magazines; Ms Joanne Er, Salon Director of Heatwave 313; and Ms Nura J-esman, entertainer, author and New Face finalist of 2002.
Be sure to catch The New Paper New Face 2011 grand finals on Thursday, October 6 at Takashimaya Square from 7pm. For more information, visit tnp.sg/newface2011.
