Based on the Bridgerton series of romance novels by Julia Quinn, breakout Netflix series Bridgerton is centred around the well-to-do Bridgerton family — a widow and her eight, alphabetically named children — as they navigate Regency-era English society.

Steamy and lavish, and with lots of drama, the season ended with Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page), Duke of Hastings, welcoming a child, while her eldest brother is now determined to find a wife. Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) was also revealed to be local gossip columnist Lady Whistledown.

And Netflix has revealed that season two will premiere in 2022, with a sneak preview released during its recent Tudum fan event.

While season one focused on Daphne and Simon’s romance, season two’s spotlight is on the eldest son of the family, Lord Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey). Previously kicked to the curb by his former lover, he’s now on the search for the perfect Viscountess. As it progresses, it looks like he might have met his match with a certain Lady Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley), the sister of one of his suitresses, and whom Netflix describes as a “smart, headstrong young woman who suffers no fools.”

Meanwhile, you can still expect to see Phoebe Dynevor’s Daphne on screen, but with actor Regé-Jean Page’s departure from the series, there will be no scenes with her husband and new baby.
