Michelle Obama radiant in redMichelle Obama was a First Lady in red at US President Barack Obama’s inauguration ball yesterday.

The ceremony marked his second term in power and his proud wife looked stunning in a scarlet Jason Wu gown.

The dress featured a halterneck with a nipped-in waist and a flowing trail of delicate material.

Custom-made by Jason, gorgeous shimmering detail adorned the fabric.

The fashion mogul previously designed a white dress for Michelle when she was new to Washington and not yet on people’s style radar.

“I can’t believe it. It’s crazy,” Jason told the Associated Press. “To have done it once was already the experience of my life. To have a second time is tremendous.”

The politician’s wife accessorised the frock with a diamond ring by Kimberly McDonald and shoes designed by luxury label Jimmy Choo.

Michelle always looks gorgeous and struck the right chord by picking a simple and sophisticated beauty style to match the elaborate gown.

With her hair in a sleek bob and flicked out at the ends, the 49-year-old kept her make-up simple and teamed smokey eyes with a nude lip.

Earlier in the day, Michelle wore a coat-dress as she watched the ceremonial swearing-in.

As Obama cemented his second term as president, his wife looked on in a dark Thom Browne ensemble with flattering waist belt.

Also looking gorgeous at yesterday’s celebrations were Beyoncé Knowles in a black Pucci dress and Kelly Clarkson in a floral Oscar de la Renta frock.
