It’s the first Monday of May 2017 and that means fashion’s finest has descended on the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Why? For the much anticipated Met Gala 2017 of course.
This year’s attendees include the likes of designers Michael Kors, Alessandro Michele, supermodels Naomi Campbell, Gisele Bundchen, actresses Kate Hudson, Blake Lively, lovely couples John Legend and Chrissy Teigen as well as Selena Gomez and The Weekend, and more.
Formally called the Costume Institute Gala, the Met Gala is a yearly fundraiser for the arts museum. The glitzy event features a different theme each year. In 2015, the ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’ theme turned heads thanks to red carpet queen Rihanna who wore a Guo Pei couture gown (to some netizens, it resembled an omelette).
Speaking of Ri Ri, netizens waited and waited and waited eagerly for her arrival at the red carpet. Questions like, “Where is Rihanna?” and “What will she wear?” were in the air.

And when the songstress — clad in a Comme des Garcons number — finally stepped out, the internet went crazy again. Cheers and applauses could be heard all over the Twittersphere.

And then there is blogger, Instagrammer and Youtuber Mina Gerges who’s famous for using everyday items (think toilet paper and highlighter pens) to pose like celebrities.
This time, he took to his Instagram account to create his versions of the Met Gala 2017 red carpet looks. What can we say: he’s got some pretty good DIY skills.
