Marc Jacobs is reportedly leaving New York City due to Hurricane Sandy.

The fashion designer has a home in the West Village area of the city, which was one of the places affected by the recent superstorm. His town house was flooded and the designer has apparently now made the decision to move to Europe for the coming months.

Jacobs is the creative director of French fashion house Louis Vuitton, so is used to spending time in Paris for work.

“Marc’s usually in Europe around this time anyway, working on his next collections,” an insider told New York Post.

The designer won’t just be in France though, he is also going to spend time in the UK. His company recently opened a Bookmarc store there, with Kate Moss appearing to sign copies of her new coffee table book this week. Jacobs is planning to be there to lend support to the British supermodel.

Hurricane Sandy caused devastation to the east coast of America, killing over 100 people.

Members of the fashion industry have started fundraising efforts to help those affected, with Michael Kors pledging $1 million to the relief effort as it swept through his home area. – COVER MEDIA
