10 local celeb couples you didn’t know were married
The real celebrity power couples in Singapore.
By Kendra Tan -
You know what they say – two is better than one, and for these local celeb couples, that’s definitely the case.
From pairs such as Zheng Geping and Hong Huifang, who have been married for over three decades, to newlyweds Nick Teo and Hong Ling who tied the knot last December, here are the celeb couples you didn’t know (or forgot that) are married.
Edmund Chen and Xiang Yun
Imagine getting married after dating for a month and a half – that’s the story of this couple, who met on the set of Channel 8 drama Patrol in 1989.
Sparks flew between them, and the couple is still going strong after over three decades together.
They’ve also been blessed with two children: their son Chen Xi, who is currently pursuing his Masters at King’s College London, and daughter Chen Yixin, who dipped her toes in acting but spends the bulk of her time on fashion-related pursuits.
Zheng Geping and Hong Huifang
When this couple first started dating, they could only do so in secret as Geping was just starting out in showbiz then, while Huifang had already made a name for herself with Channel 8 drama Samsui Woman.
They eventually wed in 1993, and celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary last year.
Zheng Geping and Hong Huifang have two children: elder child Tay Ying is an actress, while Calvert Tay is a musician.
Huang Shinan and Pan Lingling
Fun fact about this couple: they took their wedding photos on the Orchid Country Club golf course when they got married in 1996, and took a walk down memory lane by teeing off at that exact location on their 24th wedding anniversary.
They have two sons, Beckham Wee and Kynaston, neither of whom are in showbiz.
Rayson Tan and Chen Liping
It took this couple, who tied the knot in 1998, 17 years to take any sort of wedding photos.
When they did so in 2015, it was for work – specifically, Channel 8 drama Life’s Blessings.
Like Zheng Geping and Hong Huifang, Chen Liping was more famous than Rayson Tan when they first started dating, but that never stood in their way.
Their only child, a son named Zavier, has stayed off the entertainment radar as the protective parents have tried their best to give him a life out of the spotlight.
Pierre Png and Andrea De Cruz
Who can forget Pierre Png’s act of love for his then-fiancée, Andrea De Cruz, in 2002?
The actor famously donated part of his liver after she suffered liver failure from taking Slim 10 weight-loss pills.
A year after the surgery, the lovebirds tied the knot and regularly go out for date nights despite being married for over two decades.
Andie Chen and Kate Pang
How far would you go for love?
For Andie Chen, who married Kate Pang in 2013, made the huge decision to relocate to Taiwan, where she was born. He also became their young children, Aden and Avery’s main caretaker when they first moved there, as Kate Pang was busy with work in Singapore.
The pair now take turns shuttling between cities while looking after their brood, proving that you can balance both career and family.
Qi Yuwu and Joanne Peh
In what was arguably 2014’s local entertainment’s biggest headline, Qi Yuwu and Joanne Peh dropped a bombshell on everyone when they announced that they had wed.
Nobody had guessed that the pair were dating – much less exchanging vows.
A decade later, they have a daughter and son, both of whom have been shielded from the limelight and are only known to the public by their nicknames Baby Qi and Qi Didi.
Jeremy Chan and Jesseca Liu
After dating for three years, Jeremy Chan and Jesseca Liu tied the knot in 2017 in her hometown Langkawi.
At their wedding, Jesseca Liu thanked him for tolerating “the ugliest words” that have been directed at him – he is 4cm shorter than she is, and is arguably less successful than she is.
They’ve stuck together through thick and thin, and have even started a brand together, which sells home fragrances and scented soy wax candles.
Jeffrey Xu and Felicia Chin
Seven years after they started dating, Jeffrey Xu and Felicia Chin tied the knot in October 2022.
What you might not remember is the unconventional way they went public with their relationship. At the 2016 Star Awards, Jeffrey Xu declared that he would kiss Felicia Chin if he won an award, and made good on his word.
While they publicly denied their relationship at the time, they were in the early stages of dating.
These days, they’re still acting very much like newlyweds and even started a series where she tutors him in English. Cute.
Nick Teo and Hong Ling
The couple tied the knot in December 2023, and are very much still in the honeymoon phase of their relationship.
He proposed in August 2022 – on her 28th birthday, to be exact, after dating for seven years.
It’s still early days for this pair, and we can’t wait to see how their love story develops in the years to come.
