Cynthia Koh, who turned 50 on 25 March 2024, is one of the wisest people we know.
After all, the actress, who underwent a sound healing course in Spain last year, is very much aware of how self-healing helps us, and those around us.
Be it slowing down our pace our lives, or showing ourselves a bit more love, here are some of the thought-provoking reminders that Cynthia has shared with us in the past year.
Treat yourself to short getaways
Life can be overwhelming, and when it’s on the verge of becoming so, treat yourself to a getaway.
In Cynthia Koh’s words: “Finding balance helps me to handle stress and nature is my go to.”
Count your blessings
Cynthia Koh focuses on the good in her life. In her 2023 roundup post, she acknowledged that there were goods and bads, but declared that she’s “one who would rather count my blessings”.
Slow down and smell the roses
It’s easy to get caught up in the fast-paced society we live in, but Cynthia Koh often reminds us that we should slow down for our own sakes.
She quoted John De Paola: “Slow down and everything you are chasing will come around and catch you.”
Be the change you want to be
Is she one of the wisest people we know, or what?
We love the quotes she uses for her captions, like this one: “What you do today can improve all your tomorrows.”
It’s the journey, not the destination, that matters
What better way to illustrate this than with a video of her and her buddy having a drive around Jeju island?
In her caption, she wrote: “Because the greatest part of a road trip isn’t arriving at your destination. It’s about all the wild stuff that happens along the way.”
It’s a blessing to be able to do what you love
In a lengthy post just before 2023’s Star Awards, Cynthia Koh wrote about how she was thankful for her Star Awards acting nomination, but stated that she would not be able to attend the ceremony as she would be overseas.
She ended the post with the poignant: “Taking this chance to appreciate each and every one of you. What a joy to do what I love and still be excited after all these years.”
Step out of your comfort zone
This lesson was courtesy of Cynthia Koh’s friend, who stepped out of his comfort zone to take a yoga teacher’s training course.
“How did this boy manage to stepped out of his comfort zone to do something so different! Yoga was definitely not his thing when I met him, but look at where he is now years later,” she wrote.
“I’m thrilled to see what the universe has in store for you.”
Sexiness is more than skin-deep
Someone asked Cynthia Koh how she defines sexiness for women in their 40s and beyond, and she acknowledged that we cannot reverse ageing. Rather than look at the physical attractiveness of a person, she concluded that the charisma that one exudes, along with her intelligence, is what defines how sexy she is.
Embrace spontaneity
While it might be comfortable to fall back into old habits, Cynthia Koh reminds us that doing impromptu things might be the best decisions we’ve made – like this last-minute picnic she and her friends had.
Don’t expect instant gratification
Patience is key, and Cynthia Koh reminded us of that.
She said, “I also believe that a lot of things have defined timings, and it’s the way you seed and the effort you put into seeding your project into fruition. As you are planning and putting in effort and working on it, just be a little bit patient and wait for things to happen.”
