Rain gave his last salute as a military “entertainment soldier” on his last day of enlistment on July 10, 2013.

The 31-year-old singer and actor had served 21 months of mandatory military service in the South Korean army’s television and radio programming unit.

In January 2013, the Korean pop star made headlines for breaking military rules, when he snuck out while on official duty to meet his girlfriend, actress Kim Tae Hee. He spent a week confined to the barracks as a result.

Nearly 700 fans were spotted waiting and cheering Rain on, as he made his exit from the Defence Ministry building.

“Thank you all for coming to welcome me. I’ll do my best. I love you all,” Rain said, as reported by Yonhap news agency.
