Karl Lagerfeld attended a party with two lines of bodyguards this week.

The iconic designer has been promoting the Chanel exhibition The Little Black Jacket all over the world recently. The display includes photographs of people from the fashion and showbiz industries modelling the famed coat by the chic French label, and earlier this week a party was held in Berlin, Germany, for its launch in the country.

The bash began at 7pm, with Chanel’s creative director not turning up until three hours later. When he did make an entrance, it’s been claimed he caused quite a stir.

“Flanked by two rows of bodyguards, and with Laetitia Casta on his arm, Lagerfeld was whisked through the crowd which parted like the Red Sea, only to regroup and surge after him in a Pied Piper procession,” reports WWD.

The exhibit of 113 images all taken by Karl is being staged in a former subway tunnel in Germany. The walls have been painted dove grey for the display, with electronic duo Glass Candy providing tunes for the party.

Around 1,000 guests attended the bash, among them Chanel face Alice Dellal.

The exhibit will open on Friday and finishes on December 14, after which it heads to China, Brazil and Seoul. – COVER MEDIA
