Irina Shayk says swimwear and high-fashion modelling are like “two different styles of literature”.

The Russian model is best known for her appearances in Sports Illustrated’s annual Swimsuit Issues, and appeared on the cover of the magazine in 2011.

The bikini beauty is now making the move to high-fashion shoots, gracing the cover of French magazine L’Express Style’s September issue.

“It’s [the transition from swim to high-fashion] not so much difficult as it is just a totally different style of shooting,” Irina told Modelinia.

“It’s all about poses and what will be appropriate for a swim shoot as opposed to a high fashion shoot. It’s like comparing two different styles of literature – Agatha Christie and Dostoevsky are both great writers, but their styles are very different from one another.”

Alongside making the transition to high-fashion, the 26-year-old has been given the role of hosting Russia’s Next Top Model.

Irina will be stepping into the footsteps of the likes of Tyra Banks and Elle Macpherson who host the American and British versions of the TV show.

“I am so honoured that I was given this opportunity to host Russia’s Next Top Model,” the star gushed.

“I am a huge fan of Tyra Banks and admire what she has done with her career and am only too happy to follow in her footsteps. When I found out that I got the job, I immediately called my mom and sister who are huge fans of the American version. Now I just hope that they’ll become fans of my version!” – COVER MEDIA
