Dame Helen Mirren thinks it is “rubbish” when stars say they would never go under the knife as she “would love” to.

The 65-year-old British actress has grown old gracefully, and is often praised for being a natural beauty in an industry dominated by surgically enhanced stars.

Helen isn’t against the idea of plastic surgery though, and thinks it’s foolish for famous people to suggest they would never improve their looks with the help of a surgeon.

“I would love to do that!” she replied when asked if she has ever felt pressurised to have a “nip and tuck” by British newspaper The Daily Telegraph.

“Maybe, who knows, in my future. I don’t think one should be, ‘You must not do that! Oh, I’d never do that.’ All that rubbish.”

Helen does concede some celebrities take their fondness for surgery too far though. The beautiful actress once saw two women in Los Angeles whose lips made them look like “huge platypuses or ducks or something”. Helen assumed the two ladies were American, and was astonished to discover they were actually fellow Brits.

“I went, ‘God, look at those two Los Angeles women!’ And I heard them talking and they both had complete British accents! Oh dear!” she blushed.

Despite not appreciating a severely plumped pout, Helen respects some women like looking that way. For that reason, she would never go out of her way to denounce surgery.

“I do think people should do whatever makes them happy. Even those ladies with those ridiculous lips. If they look at themselves in the mirror and they go, ‘Wow! I look good!’ So what?” asserted Helen. © Cover Media
