It's no secret that TikTok dance challenges spread through the app like wildfire. With dance being such a fundamental aspect of the app, many of its dance challenges have become a ubiquitous part of youth culture today. In fact, ask anyone about this year's NDP dance, and most youths could not only tell you what the dance is but probably perform it too.

This year's song, 'The Road Ahead', performed by Linying, Shye, Shabir, Sezairi Sezali, has been a hit amongst the masses, and not just because of the patriotic tune. Thousands of users in Singapore are uploading their own high-powered versions of the original dance, and are still attracting more entries, especially with the ongoing National Day celebrations.

Here are some of our favourite NDP TikToks we've come across on the video-sharing app.

The first TikTok of the original dance was released on NDPeeps Official TikTok account, which continued to inspire many other users to post their own versions on the app. Definitely one of the more subtle and toned down versions of what many have been posting on the app, this video is a benchmark of the other videos you'll see next.

Punch up and down, and roll it back, but make it a little extra. And yes, you'll have to do some headbanging for this one — just try not to faint while you're at it.

TikTok user @sieqratea, took to the platform to perform the dance challenge in something you'd never imagine: a unicorn onesie. Besides, what's not to love about a unicorn doing a dance on TikTok?

Local actor and YouTuber, Noah Yap, took to TikTok to sweat his patriotism on his sleeves in a red and white ensemble to show his undying love for Singapore while dancing to The Road Ahead in his room. If this isn't patriotic enough, we don't know what is.

Singaporeans aren't the only ones hopping onto this trend. In fact, pets like Nala, have won the hearts of many with its own take on the dance challenge, that's just oh-so-adorable. Who doesn't love a grumpy cat? We know we do.

If you're more of a dog person, then Bella the Golden Retriever's dance of The Road Ahead will set your heart on fire.

7/11

Doing a dance challenge is great, but doing it with your friends is even better.

8/11

Whoever said you couldn't mosh to this song, obviously hasn't seen user @jeanseizure's hardcore version of 'The Road Ahead'.

9/11

Just because there wasn't any twerking involved in the original dance, doesn't mean you can't include it in your own. User @wagyew went the extra mile, showing off his twerking skills while he was doing the dance challenge with his friend at what seemed to be a boardwalk. Never be ashamed to show off your Singapore spirit, right?

And of course, we can't forget about user @marc_cark_macandcheese, whose video went viral for many reasons. Marc Lim's goofy take on the official NDP dance routine made its rounds, with about 317.4K views and have garnered the likes of 27.2k since it was last posted in July. Local singer, Benjamin Kheng, also commented on the original video, saying "NDP SHOULD HIRE YOU", which goes to show how well received the TikTok video was to many users.

Besides dancing, user @seantanwanton also did a funny take on the misheard lyrics of 'The Road Ahead'.
