Florence Welch has described Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld as “friendly but frank”.

The 26-year-old red haired singer has revealed what the legendary fashion house designer is really like.

Karl has a reputation for making harsh comments about celebrities, but Florence has been lucky enough to escape his sharp tongue.

“He’s actually really warm and funny,” Florence insisted to British magazine ES about the Chanel designer. “[When I performed in a giant shell on the Chanel catwalk at the spring/summer 2012 Paris Fashion Week] he really worked to put me at ease. He’s friendly but he’s very frank.”

As well as appearing on the Chanel catwalk, the British lead singer of Florence and the Machine has built relationships with other big name designers. Her elegantly tall figure and classic old-world glamour makes her the ideal model to carry off designer clothing. On her current tour she has enlisted creations from Gucci’s autumn/ winter 2012 collection for her on stage costumes.

The down-to-earth star confessed that when she is off duty, her wardrobe choices are much more eclectic and casual than the high glamour image she portrays during her performances.

“I’ve got to stop talking about hangovers, they are a large part of my life. I had an epic hangover last Christmas. I was wearing pyjamas and jewellery – it’s a good way to do Christmas I think,” Florence laughed. “It’s Christmas and you should be able to lounge. And I dress up most days of the year anyway, so Christmas should be the one day off.” – COVER MEDIA
