There appears to be no end to David Beckham’s list of accomplishments, even though he has hung up his football boots.

The retired soccer star launched his own whisky label, Haig Club, this October in Scotland.

The venture is a partnership between Beckham, Diageo, the world’s largest alcohol company based in London, and British entrepreneur Simon Fuller.

The single grain scotch whisky is an innovation from the House of Haig, Scotland’s oldest grain whisky dynasty and makers of Haig Blended Scotch Whisky and Dimple Scotch Whisky. Haig Club is one of the whiskies under Diageo.

A Diageo press statement earlier this year said Beckham was expected to lead the promotion of a “responsible drinking programme” for Haig Club.

Of his latest venture, Beckham, 39, said: “The House of Haig has a rich history and I’m proud to be working at the heart of a home-grown brand which has built an incredible heritage over 400 years.”

At the launch were Beckham’s wife Victoria and personalities like luxury shoe designer Jimmy Choo, Taiwanese singer-songwriter David Tao and celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. Singapore’s Tracy Phillips, owner of creative consultancy Present Purpose, was also there.

The event on Saturday included a dinner prepared by Tom Kitchin, chef and owner of the Michelin-starred restaurant The Kitchin in Edinburgh.
