Claudia Schiffer explains fashion disasterClaudia Schiffer once got stuck in her house after a dress she’d picked for an event “filled with static electricity”.

The German supermodel has discussed how she gets dressed for red carpet events.

She has learnt many lessons over the years, including the importance of being properly prepared.

“I don’t like the stress of last minute dressing, so I always plan ahead, especially for an event. A few days before, I try options on with different accessories and have them tailored to fit me perfectly.”

“I always have two dresses on standby as I once picked out a great silk mini dress that suddenly filled with static electricity. I couldn’t leave the house because it was literally glued to me like a glove I had to laugh because I didn’t have a backup,” she told net-a-porter.com.

When it comes to getting ready for an ordinary day, Claudia also has some tips.

The 41-year-old has key pieces which she reaches to time and again because she knows they suit her. The model jazzes things up with the careful use of accessories.

“I am about to get dressed very quickly in the mornings as I have key pieces I always turn to. I’ll pull on my Acne jeans with a cashmere knit and jeers or a sweater dress with black opaque tights and my brown over-the-knee boots,” she explained.

“Then I add what I call my of-the-moment accessories – right now that’s a black Chanel handbag or brown Ferragamo satchel and cuffs from Kara Ross and Monica Vinader. These work with all my outfits and I wear them for a few weeks on and off and then change again.”
