Valentine's Day, as we know it, is when some of us go all out to show our affection for our loved ones. Sure, there are the usual champagne, cards and chocolates that put you and your SO in the mood for love. But hey, even if you're not in a relationship, it can be a special day too.

Think of February 14 as a reminder to continue giving yourself the love, grace and kindness you deserve. After all, self-love should always come first. This Valentine's Day, celebs like Rebecca Lim, Zoe Tay and Belinda Lee turned to Instagram to express their love for their other half. At the same time, Rui En, Sharon Au and more reminded us that we are in the driver's seat when it comes to finding happiness.

Keep scrolling to check out the different ways local celebs celebrated Valentine's Day this year.

Rebecca Lim

1/11

Rebecca shared a candid photo of her and her fiance Matthew Webster, taken during her proposal in November last year. Accompanying it is a simple yet sweet message that said: "Wishing you love, laughter, good thoughts and happy days."

Ah, it puts us in the mood for love!

Zoe Tay

2/11

Taking time off from looking after her kids, Zoe checked into JW Marriott Hotel Singapore for a staycay with her hubby. There, the duo enjoyed a Valentine's Day meal and bade adieu to their stresses by pampering themselves to a spa treatment. Seeing that wide smile on Zoe's face, we're pretty sure she had a fun time.

Rui En

3/11

Dressed like a princess straight out of a fairytale, Rui En posted some dreamy-looking portraits of herself that were taken at a recent photoshoot. In her caption, she reminded us that while most female characters in fairytales are dependent on the males for a happily ever after, the reality is different.

"No human being is ever going to be able to do that," she wrote on her Instagram post. "The only person who can is yourself... fairytales at the end of the day are simply fairytales. Create your own."

Andrea De Cruz, Pierre Png

4/11

Lovey-dovey couple Andrea and Pierre got into a bathtub together for a Valentine's Day-themed photoshoot with The Straits Times. Now all that's missing are some bubbly and chocolates.

Nurul Aini

5/11

Marking her wedding's 14th anniversary which falls on the day after Valentine's Day, Nurul posted a series of #throwback photos of her and her hubby Sofian Roslan. Seeing the past and present photos of the duo, we can't help but go, "Awww!"

Sharon Au

6/11

Sharon, who's back in Singapore to perform at the Huayi Chinese Festival of Arts, penned a thoughtful note that gave us a warm fuzzy feeling, reminding us not to give up on love.

She wrote: "My Valentine's wish for all of you is for you to be surrounded by a ring of blessings and love. May you dedicate your life to the pursuit of your dreams, and love yourself, instead of waiting to be loved, because when you glow with contentment and confidence, love will come to you. Naturally."

Belinda Lee

7/11

This Valentine's Day was a little different for Belinda, who had to bid farewell to her husband David Moore at the airport. Still, David wanted to surprise Belinda by sending her a bouquet when she least expected it — during her morning run. How sweet!

Cheryl Wee, Roy Fong

8/11

Together with Food Panda, Cheryl and her husband Roy Fong did a special Valentine's Day Q&A video. In it, the couple, who welcomed their third child Elly last year, took a trip down memory lane and shared some of their fondest memories on food, V Day celebrations and more.

Using the 'Facetime with Spidermen' filter on Instagram, Fiona got to spend her V day with not one but three Spidermen — Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Macguire. How lucky!

Fann Wong

This Valentine's Day, Christopher Lee and Fann might be separated because of work (Chris is in Taiwan filming currently) but there's nothing a scrumptious meal can't solve.

Fann took to her Instagram Stories to share a simple, home-delivered Valentine's Day meal by Fatburger Singapore, making us feel hungry now that we're looking at it again.

Rozz Lee

Whether you choose to shower your other half with love or show yourself more self-love and appreciation this Valentine's Day, we can all take the cue from Rozz's empowering message: "Just like any other day, today is whatever you make of it. Just don't rain on anyone's parade should they choose differently from you. Every choice is valid."
