A baby girl is on the way for local celebrity couple Kate Pang and Andie Chen, who shared the good news on Tuesday (Dec 15) with local entertainment website Toggle.

The actress-host is now in her second trimester of pregnancy, and will welcome their second child in late June next year.

Pang said that she had an inkling that she might be pregnant when the couple went on their honeymoon trip to New Zealand in October. She decided to take a pregnancy test before signing up for bungee jumping activity, and added: “It turned out positive so I didn’t go on the bungee jump.”

According to Pang, the pregnancy took her husband by surprise as they did not plan for a second child so soon after her miscarriage in April this year.

Chen has also become more protective of his pregnant spouse, as she revealed: “Andie is always more nervous than me. He’d tell me to be less rough with my actions and slow down my walking pace too.”

In a Channel NewsAsia report, Pang shared her elation of having a daughter, because “Andie has two brothers and there’s just too much testosterone (in the family).”

She added that she had been envious of Vivian Lai, whose two daughters had made sweet gestures such as making their mother desserts.

Meanwhile, to prepare their son Aden for his impending role as a big brother, the expectant mum said: “We’d ask him ‘Where is your younger sister?’ and get him to kiss my tummy.”

Aden had said ‘Hello’ to his younger sibling during one of her ultrasound check-ups, she recounted.

Pang also announced her pregnancy on her Facebook page on Tuesday and posted a photo of her son with the accompanying caption: “It’s great! When my little sister arrives, Mum won’t only play jokes on me.”
