By now, it’s pretty obvious how versatile Ahn Bo-hyun is as an actor, from the charismatic detective he played in My Name to a meek game developer in Yumi’s Cells.

With his good looks, physique and cheeky nature, Ahn Bo-hyun is definitely an up-and-coming actor we look forward to seeing more of in the future.

As we await his appearance in another captivating show, we've dug up these six fun facts about Ahn Bo-hyun that are worth drooling over.

He lives up to his name

In an interview with NewsAde, the star from My Name shared the meaning of his name. Bo means big, and Hyun means wise, which roughly translates to “lots of wisdom”.

And guess what? He lives up to his name by reading books. In a video with Arena, he brought the book “Who will come to my funeral when I die” by Kim Sang-hyun, which is about the author’s experience with relationships he experienced and how he untangled them.

His modelling career was ruined by his big hands

Like many breakout actors this year such as Wi Ha-joon, Ahn Bo-hyun made his debut in the entertainment industry in 2007 as a model. Standing at 187cm, coupled with toned muscles as we’ve seen in My Name, he is definitely model material. But there was one thing that kept him from receiving casting offers: his hands.

He was told that his big hands would distract the audience from looking at the clothes. BTW, we don’t think his hands are the only thing about him that's distracting. ;)

Ahn Bo-hyun began his acting career in 2014 in the show Golden Cross, and continued to play many small roles. He got his big break in 2020 playing the antagonist in Itaewon Class, the entitled chaebol son, Jang Geun-won.

He was nominated for Best New Actor for the 2020 Baeksang Arts Awards, and won Rising Star Actor and Rising Star Actor of the Year at the Korea First Brand Awards and Brand of the Year Awards for the role. He also won Best Emotive Award (Actor) and Choice Award at the 2020 Asia Artist Awards.

Fitness is a big part of his life

To maintain his strong physique, Ahn Bo-hyun is an avid cyclist and boxer. He revealed in MBC’s I Live Alone that he can cycle 36km in less than an hour and spends his time training at a boxing gym that’s run by a close friend.

He is definitely boyfriend material

In an interview with Elle, Ahn Bo-hyun mentioned that he is most similar to his character Goo Woong in Yumi’s Cells. He said that he gets sulky very easily but also forgives easily. He also doesn’t like being left on read for hours, so bad texters take note!
