The name Tan Kheng Hua tends to conjure up images of a confident and powerful woman, possibly due to her talented portrayal of many such characters of late — think La Cage, Company and most recently 8 Women. But meeting the thespian in person proves that she was more warm and friendly than bitter and conniving.

We chat with her about 8 Women — the local edition of the French-Italian comedy murder-mystery musical from 1972, who she would cast as herself, and acting in loves scenes.

Catch Tan Kheng Hua in 8 Women from March 29 to April 7, 2013, at the School of the Arts (SOTA) Drama Theatre. Tickets are priced from $50 and are available at SISTIC. For more information, visit www.singtheatre.com/index.php.
