I’ve always got this idea that Christmas means having lots of red-coloured foods on my dining table. For years, my family has loved crowding around the table and digging into a cheesy and tomato-rich meat dish. Here’s a rich lasagna recipe that will leave you feeling satisfied.

– 3 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
– 2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste
– 2 garlic cloves, minced
– 2 tsp sugar
– 1 tsp Italian herbs
– 1 tsp salt
– ½ tsp pepper
– 3 eggs
– 3 tbsp parsley, minced
– 3 cups cottage cheese (you can replace this with cheddar cheese)
– 1 cup ricotta cheese
– ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
– 9 lasagna noodles, cooked and drained
– 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions:
1.In a large skillet over medium heat till just cooked. Drain the meat.
2.Add tomato sauce, tomato paste, garlic, sugar, herbs, salt and pepper. Bring the meat mixture to a boil, and then reduce the heat to simmer for 60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
3.In a large bowl, combine the eggs and parsley. Stir in the cottage, ricotta and parmesan cheese.
4.Spread some meat sauce in a 13 inch by 9 inch baking dish. Layer with three noodles, cheddar cheese, 1 cup cottage cheese mixture, and 1 cup mozzarella cheese. Continue layering the baking dish until full.
5.Cover the baking dish with aluminium foil and bake at 175 degrees Celsius for 50 minutes. Let it stand for 15 minutes before cutting and serving.
