The name Christina Perri is probably not foreign to most of us, especially those who are fans of her defiant breakup anthem, “Jar of Hearts”, which has been receiving widespread play on the airwaves.

The second single in her debut album Lovestrong, “ A Thousand Years” got even more attention, seeing as it was featured in the Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1 soundtrack.

Twi-hards were obsessed with the song and oddly enough, so was everyone else.

What started out as a life-changing moment on So You Think You Can Dance, when she was asked to perform a song she had written, catapulted the 24-year-old into the limelight.

Her performance was raw, emotional and brutally honest and that struck a chord with viewers worldwide.

Even her rags to riches story is just as inspirational.

Perri starting singing at the age of six at her Holy Communion, picked up the piano at eight, but got “fired” by her piano teacher, learnt how to play the guitar herself, got accepted to Philadelphia’s prestigious University of the Arts but took a leave of absence to continue her songwriting and moved to Los Angeles with just her guitar in tow.

One of her YouTube videos caught the eye/ear of Bill Silva Management, who signed on to represent her, and the rest is history.

This talented musician will be making her first live appearance in Singapore at the Kallang Theatre on Friday, June 8, 2012, treating her fans to her signature bluesy folk pop.

So if you’re a fan of her melodious voice and her heart-wrenching tunes, be sure not to miss this one-night-only gig.
