Cheese shops in Singapore for your artisanal cheese desires
For your next cheese and charcuterie party
By Ho Guo Xiong -
Milk and cream are already delicious in their own right. But once they have been cured and fermented into cheese, a new world of flavours opens up. Think about soft, creamy brie and camembert, the salty twang of cheddar and parmesan, or the umami funk of blue cheeses like Roquefort and Stilton. Ahead, we spotlight 10 cheese shops in Singapore that celebrate and showcase the diverse flavours and varieties of cheese.
The Cheese Shop
The Cheese Shop specialises in fine cheese, wines, and food sourced from Europe and other parts of the world. Besides its online store, there are three locations you can physically pick up cheese from — Joo Chiat Road in the East, Tagore Lane in the North, and UE Square in the central area. Here, the range spans from hard cheeses like Applewood Smoked Cheddar from England to blue cheeses like Roquefort Janier from France. The picture above, for example, features The Cheese Shop’s bestselling truffle-infused cheeses.
The Cheese Shop has multiple locations in Singapore. Visit its website for more information.
The Cheese Artisans
The Cheese Artisans was started in 2012 as a cheese supplier to hotels and restaurants. The Cheese Artisans continue to import artisanal cheese made by traditional European farms that produce dairy products using time-honoured methods. Popular cheese on its website include Allgäuer Emmentaler AOP, Barber’s Vintage Cheddar, and Beaufort Été AOP 10 Months. While they opened their first store in 2016 in Bukit Timah, they’ve seen fully shifed their business to purely online while they reconceptualise.

Cheeselads
Cheeselads is the brainchild of Alfred Low and couple Leonard Teng and Chloe Lee. The millennial trio started the cheeseboard business in 2020 right as the nation went into the Circuit Breaker lockdown. Now, the brand retails over 170 types of cheese from across Europe and the USA, which you can purchase to enjoy at home or at their restaurant in Jalan Besar. One unique cheese found here that caught our eye is the goat cheese Apolline, which comes with a rind of edible flowers and a rose jelly centre.

The specialty cheeses retailing at the Gourmet Shop include classic choices such as French Brie “Ermitage,” Camembert Vieux AOC, and Parmigiano Reggiano PDO. Ready-to-eat French meals are also available.
Gourmet Shop is available online.
Carv Artisanal Butchery
Some people don’t just head to the grocery store for cheese. They shop for meats, delicatessens, and other items to make a complete meal. And if you’re someone like that, you can head to Carv Artisanal Butchery in Ang Mo Kio. While it is a butchery, Carv offers a pretty well-stocked selection of cheeses ranging from brie and gruyere to cheddar and manchego. You can pick up a cheese and charcuterie board for parties, too.
