Who will we say bon voyage to at the end of The White Lotus Season 3?

Here’s our take on the survival rate of the characters from the most blindsiding season yet

It’s me, your friendly neighbourhood pop culture-obsessed, perpetually-online, and TV-binging fanatic again. If you’ve been tuned into The White Lotus’s third season every Monday—which has set a new viewership record, averaging 15 million eyeballs within the U.S. alone—you’d know that we’ve sat through a slow-burn season for the past seven weeks and have now arrived at the big season finale.

As with all seasons within The White Lotus’ universe, the season opens with a dead body (or several), and over the course of the episodes, plays out as a whodunnit that’s accompanied by Mike White’s signature commentary on society and personalities.

Before the final episode for season 3 drops, perhaps all anyone can now discuss on social media is who they think will be the character (or characters) to get a visit from the Grim Reaper. I’ve done the reading, the watching and the debating; and here’s my ranking of who I think will be the likeliest to wind up six feet under by the end of Monday’s episode, ranked from least to most likely to die.

Warning: Major spoilers ahead!

Played by: Carrie Coon, Leslie Bibb and Michelle Monaghan

Risk of dying: 1/10 (Low)

Let’s start with our favourite trio of messy friends, who I’ve basically started referring to as ‘The Blondes’. Do I think they’ll wind up dying at the end of the season? Nope, but I don’t think their friendship will survive this trip either, after all the sassing and the backstabbing.

Piper

Credit: HBO Warner Bros.

Played by: Sarah Catherine Hook

Risk of dying: 1/10 (Low)

Play the “Piper, no!” sound now, because no, I don’t think Piper’s at any risk of facing death. When we last encountered her in the penultimate episode, she was checked into a monastery for a trial stay with her brother, and while she’s constantly bickering with her mother, I don’t think it’s going to get her into any danger aside from a barbed response by Victoria Ratliff.

Jim Hollinger

Played by: Scott Glenn

Risk of dying: 1/10 (Low)

I thought this character would be a clear winner for “who’s going to die”, but the showrunners have a different view. Based on last Monday’s episode, he came narrowly close to death with Rick brandishing a gun in his face. The fact that he’s emerged from that altercation with nothing more than a shove on the floor makes us think that he’s not about to die.

Mook

Played by: Lalisa Manobal

Risk of dying: 2/10 (Low)

Doe-eyed Mook has many netizens convinced that she’s not as innocent as she looks, but a cunning character twist doesn’t necessarily equate to death. She might be implicated in the final shootout in some form, but chances of her dying don’t seem to be high.

Chloe

Credit: HBO Warner Bros.

Played by: Charlotte Le Bon

Risk of dying: 3/10 (Low)

Ah, everyone’s favourite plot catalyst. Chloe may have the Ratliff brothers strung around her little finger, and sure, she has a volatile boyfriend constantly and creepily peering at her, but there’s just not enough drive within the larger plot for her character to be off-ed.

Sritala Hollinger

Credit: HBO Warner Bros.

Played by: Lek Patravadi

Risk of dying: 4/10 (Medium)

After the brouhaha that happened in her home, I’ve put her at medium risk instead. Early on in the series, we’re introduced to her bodyguards, which might come into play with the shootout at the hotel. A certain internet conspiracy posits that Sritala brings her private security to the resort in an act of revenge against Rick, and if so, things may go south for herself.

Zion Lindsey

Credit: HBO Warner Bros.

Played by: Nicholas Duvernay

Risk of dying: 5/10 (Medium)

The dashing son of Belinda, Zion starts the season off by hiding in one of the resort’s ponds while a gunfight ensues. In the finale teasers shown after last week’s episode, we also see him meeting up with the shady Greg to discuss the payout that was first offered to Zion’s mother. Is he in a highly dangerous environment? Not yet, but it could escalate nonetheless.

Frank

Credit: HBO Warner Bros.

Played by: Sam Rockwell

Risk of dying: 5/10 (Medium)

After his surprise cameo (and that jaw-dropping monologue), Sam Rockwell has been added to the opening sequence of the series. If you know the opening credits of The White Lotus, you’d know that there are many easter eggs hidden within the scenes. These animations either speak of a character’s present, or where they might end up. Fans noted that Sam Rockwell’s name appears next to a crocodile, and the same crocodile is later seen preying on a stork that stands next to Natasha Rothwell’s name. So here’s what I think: maybe Frank is hired by Greg to take care of Rothwell’s Belinda, who suspects that he has something to do with his wife’s death. If that’s the case, there’s a 50/50 chance that Frank might face his doom.

Gaitok

Credit: HBO Warner Bros.

Played by: Tayme Thapthimthong

Risk of dying: 6/10 (Medium)

Ah, our favourite bumbling security guard who’s loved by everyone and is terrible at his job. With the last episode, we all know that Gaitok has come to realise that the robbery early in the season is a result of an inside job orchestrated by his colleague, Valentin. Knowing Gaitok’s drive to do the right thing, he might choose to confront Valentin, which will likely mean that he might walk away with a bruise (or worse).

Chelsea

Credit: HBO Warner Bros.

Played by: Aimee Lou Wood

Risk of dying: 7/10 (Medium to High)

The only reason why she’s this high on the list is because all through the season, Chelsea has been highlighting that bad things happen in threes. First she was a victim of the robbery, then she was bitten by a snake that her partner Rick released in a frenzy, so we can’t blame Chelsea for expecting the worst. If true, she’s at a fairly elevated risk of dying.

Rick

Credit: HBO Warner Bros.

Played by: Walton Goggins

Risk of dying: 8/10 (High)

I’m convinced that Rick might face his end in the season finale. The man has been hurtling through each episode in a frantic and vengeful rage, and even though we leave him in episode seven with him content and smiling, anyone knows that happiness doesn’t last that long in The White Lotus.

Saxon Ratliff

Credit: HBO Warner Bros.

Played by: Patrick Schwarzenegger

Risk of dying: 9/10 (High)

The guy is obsessed with making protein smoothies in a blender, and we already know that the teasers have brought back the topic of the deadly pong pong fruit. It doesn’t take a genius to put one and one together.

Victoria Ratliff

Credit: HBO Warner Bros.

Played by: Parker Posey

Risk of dying: 9/10 (High)

When Victoria began to talk about how she doesn’t think she can live as a poor person (her words, not ours), the first thing I thought was “oh, foreshadowing”. If it’s not her lorazepam pills, she better watch out for the deadly smoothies then.

Timothy Ratliff

Credit: HBO Warner Bros.

Played by: Jason Isaacs

Risk of dying: 9/10 (High)

Look, the guy has spent the larger part of the show worrying about going to jail and spiraling into a really dark space. Teasers show that he started inquiring about the pong pong fruit with hotel staff, so my money’s on him as one of the likely ones to meet his end.

Belinda Lindsey

Credit: HBO Warner Bros.

Played by: Natasha Rothwell

Risk of dying: 9/10 (High)

Cue the “You in danger, girl” memes, because Belinda has had one too many realisations for her own safety. After clocking Greg’s real identity, doing some desktop sleuthing and talking about it to the wrong people, it’s fairly obvious that Greg is anxious to ‘deal’ with her. As of last Monday’s episode, it’s also evident that money has no sway on her. What’s the easiest way to silence someone? You can answer that for yourself.

Greg

Credit: HBO Warner Bros.

Played by: Jon Gries

Risk of dying: 9.5/10 (Super high)

The character is despicable, we know. And as much as he makes for a great villain to hate, there’s just no other way to push his character forward without it feeling forced or contrived.

Lochlan Ratliff

Credit: HBO Warner Bros.

Played by: Sam Nivola

Risk of dying: 9.5/10 (Super high)

I’m going to defend this hill that I’ve built: I’m convinced Lochlan is going to die, and here’s why: firstly, his slide in the opening credits comes with an artwork of a drowned man. He’s also too close to his brother Saxon (if you catch my drift), and that’s causing a massive issue between them. Not to mention, very early on in the season, we know that Saxon wants him to drink more protein shakes (hence, the introduction of said blender). So if I had to put my money on someone, I’d say it’s Lochlan. The only reason I’ve deducted 0.5 points from his risk points is because there’s always a chance that a twist saves the character, as Mike White is wont to do.
