The story goes that pop-art figure Andy Warhol once said: “I always visit the Bulgari store, because it is the most important museum of contemporary art.”

Once you take a closer look at prized Bulgari gems, Warhol’s admiration for the brand is easy to understand.

This July, get to see Bulgari jewels from 1910 to present day now at the Bulgari Takashimaya store while you can.

Happening in Singapore at the Takashimaya boutique from now to July 16, 2013, the Eternal Jewels exhibition will provide a closeup look of prized Bulgari gems through the ages; including the coveted Elizabeth Taylor collection that was recently acquired by the Italian fine jewellery brand.

Dive into the history of Bulgari and the creative innovations that it has made throughout the 130 years since its inception. Over 60 vintage jewels from Bulgari’s collection will be exhibited, so there’s plenty of sparkle to look out for.

The highlights of the exhibition are enclosed in a room, dedicated to the Elizabeth Taylor jewels.

Shown to the public for the first time since its procurement by Bulgari, the collection’s key piece is a stunning emerald and diamond necklace. The necklace was gifted to Elizabeth Taylor by Richard Burton upon their marriage in 1964.

While the couple’s relationship was notoriously stormy, the precious gems represented some of the happier moments in their marriage. Burton was to have said this of the screen siren: “I introduced Liz to beer and she introduced me to Bulgari”.

The iconic designs are worth lingering over too, such as the classic “Serpente” snake belts and bracelets are amongst the stand-outs.

Worn by famous faces and names including the late American Vogue editor Diana Vreeland, these serpents seem so life-like and detailed that they look almost poised to bite.

So make a visit to the jewellery exhibition, before these Bulgari gems are whisked elsewhere to their next international debut.
