Whilst it is only a month into the new year, the festive season already feels like a distant memory. January is long, miserable and you’re probably already itching for your next break. We so get you.

Chinese New Year may be here, but the long weekend is still going to be a tiring one if you celebrate. Our recommendation? Book yourself into one of these hotels for your post-CNY recuperation.

In case you’re wondering how the top 10 were chosen, the results are a part of Trip Advisor’s 2017 Travellers’ Choice. Here, they were selected based on millions of valuable reviews and opinions collected in a single year from travellers around the world. Service, quality, and value are three of the most important criteria.

best hotels staycation singapore hotel vagabond

1. Hotel Vagabond

Take a path slightly less travelled (yet still quite convenient) with this pick on Syed Alwi road. It’s the first of an international luxury hotel collection by Satinder Garcha, the man behind numerous resplendent Sentosa Cove developments. There is a rather opulent aesthetic to the hotel which is no surprise as it was outfitted by a rather bold French designer Jacques Garcia. Check out our review of the hotel here.

2. AMOY by Far East Hospitality

Perfectly located for business and pleasure, Amoy by Far East Hospitality has really embraced their location (housed in a charming heritage building a short walk from Chinatown) with mod-Chinese decor. But what might be the most impressive thing about the hotel appears to be the regard that guests have for the staff: The staff are highly praised throughout countless reviews for their attention to detail and excellent service. Check out our review of the hotel here.

best hotels staycation singapore fullerton bay

3. The Fullerton Bay Hotel Singapore

We reviewed The Fullerton Bay in our list of luxury staycations with amazing views, and aren’t even the least bit surprised to see them on the list (the hotel actually holds the number one spot on the site’s list of Singapore hotels). Sure, it’s a really pricey hotel, but it’s in a gorgeous location along the river, has great dining options (you must check out their afternoon tea at Clifford Pier), and wonderful service. Check out our review of the hotel here.

4. Raffles Hotel Singapore

If you want a little bit of old world colonial charm in your staycay, then where better than the Raffles Hotel? Do the touristy thing and grab a Singapore Sling at the historic Long Bar, though be prepared to pay a slightly ridiculous amount for it while fighting the crowd of tourists. Staying here is definitely a splurge, but if you want a place that’s iconic, then this is it.

5. The Quincy Hotel

If you want to stay near town but cost is a concern for you, then look no further. Quincy is just a quick stroll from Mouth Elizabeth, which means you’ll still be in town, but not plagued by crowds. The hotel has a special weekend package that is perfect for staycations. In addition to a buffet breakfast, there’s also refreshments available all day, a free mini-bar, evening cocktails, movie night by the pool on saturdays, and even a chocolate truffle making class you can try.

6. InterContinental Singapore

It’s back to luxury hotels with the Intercontinental Singapore, which has been around since 1995 and long been known for its historically rich Peranakan theme. Again, one of the hotel’s more outstanding qualities amongst reviewers is the exceptional service. The hotel embarked on a revamp project for their lobby, tower guestrooms, gym and dining options, finally unveiling their brand new look in May last year and we were thrilled to see a perfect mix of rich heritage and contemporary styles. If you give it a shot, we highly recommend checking out either Ash & Elm or Man Fu Yuan for food while you’re there.

best hotels staycation singapore shangri-la

7. Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore

It’s hard to believe you’re in the heart of town while staying here. There’s just so much lush greenery around, especially if you’re staying in The Garden Wing of the hotel. Shangri-La has everything you’d expect from a luxury hotel. Excellent service, food, and quality all-round. Despite the fact that the hotel has been around for a long time, they do a great job at keeping up with technology. Some hotel packages even provide you with an Apple TV that has access to Netflix shows to keep you entertained throughout your stay… not that you’ll be needing it. Check out our review of the hotel here.

8. Four Seasons Hotel Singapore

Aside from excellent service, luxurious rooms, and the overall posh feeling you get from telling your friends you’re staying at the Four Seasons, there is also the food to consider. One Ninety has some truly impressive dishes worth trying. We’d actually be willing to make the trek down even if we weren’t staying there just for the food. The only downside we can think of is that you might need to walk a little to get to the heart of town, but really, the walk isn’t even that strenuous. Oh, and the hotel has got amazing views as well.

best hotels staycation singapore capella sentosa

9. Capella Singapore

The Capella resort on Sentosa is a piece of paradise within Singapore, perfect if you’re looking for a getaway from urban life and the daily grind. Set in lush gardens, a short walk from Palawan beach and with landscaped, cascading pools to lounge by, it’s a retreat from the concrete jungle and almost transports you to a Bali-like state of being. Bank on attentive staff during your stay, as each room is assigned a personal assistant who will help you out with whatever you may need. Check out our review of the hotel here.

10. The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore

I got a chance to try the Ritz out for myself last year, and it quite honestly blew me away. Sure, it’s not really near much unless you’re happy walking around Marina Square, but even if you’re just staying in the hotel, you aren’t likely to get bored. The staff are attentive and go the extra mile, the rooms are absolutely gorgeous (we recommend one with the bath tub looking out onto the water where the Singapore Flyer is), and the food is divine. Everything from breakfast to afternoon tea at Colony is absolutely worth your time, provided you love food. Check out our review of the hotel here.
