The best off-day plans start with one rule: Make it all about you
Sometimes the most radical thing you can do is take a day that’s entirely, unapologetically yours. Here’s how to do it right.

Life gets loud. Between work, responsibilities, and the endless scroll of everyone else’s highlight reel, burnout doesn’t knock – it just shows up. And then what?
The fix might be simpler than you think: Take a day that’s entirely, unapologetically yours. So ditch the guilt, block the calendar, and take yourself somewhere good. Here are a few ideas to get you started.
1. Soak your stress away at Nowhere Baths
These days you’d be spoiled for choice when it comes to finding a bath house, but since this is a date, pick something aesthetically pleasing that is just as much a balm for the eyes as it is for the body. Nowhere Baths ticks those boxes with its elegantly warm interiors. Invigorate the body with a cold plunge, then let the heat from the hot baths, sauna and steam heal and relax.

2. Go touch grass (and eat delicious food) at Air CCCC
Located in Dempsey, Air CCCC makes a case for the healing power of wide open spaces (tough to get in Singapore). Previously a clubhouse for civil servants, the historical barracks complex features a 100m walkway through the greenery that feels very unlike most Singapore spaces. Look out at its sprawling green grounds from the umbrella-covered alfresco dining area or through the floor-to-ceiling windows in air conditioned comfort. The greenery outside contrasts with the concrete minimalism inside. Food menus are seasonal, with grilling done in the open kitchen so you can enjoy all the savoury aromas before tucking in.

3. Work up a sweat at Off Duty Pilates
Get your heart racing with a hard-working pilates class. At Off Duty Pilates, classes are high-energy and designed to be a real sweat-inducing experience. There are classes for everyone from beginners to the more advanced, with some specialising in core and posture, at three easy-to-reach locations in New Bahru, Tanjong Pagar and Orchard Road.

4. Get your hands dirty at Taoz Ceramics Studio
Nothing quiets the mind like a little hands-on activity. Studies have shown that hands-based activities like writing can actually reduce stress and anxiety. Pottery or “wheel throwing” can add a whole new artistic dimension to that. At Taoz Ceramics Studio at Orchard Gateway, you’ll have the opportunity to try your hand at fundamental pottery skills from clay shaping to underglaze painting. You can also use your SG Culture Pass for a ceramic and pottery workshop here.

5. Catch Legally Blonde, starring Nathania Ong
Is it weird to catch a theatre show alone? As Legally Blonde’s Elle Woods herself would say, “As if!” The whimsical would-be lawyer makes her musical debut in Singapore (and will be played by none other than Singaporean West End sensation Nathania Ong) in July and yes, tickets are SG Culture Pass-eligible. Dating yourself should be an ongoing affair, so get the tickets now and surprise yourself later.
From July 29, Esplanade Theatre
6. Check-in for one at a hotel
When the only person you have to cater to is yourself, then go all out and enjoy a staycation designed just for you. Check into Grand Hyatt Singapore and head to its Damai Spa, which features high-tech treatments that focus on improving sleep or energy. If you’re a gourmand, you’ll want to book The Capitol Kempinski or The Ritz-Carlton Millenia for their famed brunches. If you’re looking for something a bit more chic and boutique-y, check out The Standard Singapore, where everything is a vibe.
