While Bedok is known for its tempting array of hawker food, the east-side neighbourhood is also home to several great cafes. Some of these under-the-radar gems feature everything from traditional Nasi Campur to fresh waffles, so if you’re in Bedok, head on down for some delish dishes at wallet-friendly prices.

1. Daily Mujo (日常咖啡)

Tucked away in a quiet corner of an HDB estate, Daily Mujo is a cozy cafe that offers a warm ambience perfect for remote work or a relaxing meal. Their menu highlights include reinventing western classics with a local touch, such as pandan chicken chop, sourdough bread served with raw honey and sea salt, accompanied by half-boiled eggs and more. Daily Mujo also offers classic western favourites like Fish & Chips, mushroom soup, burgers, salads and pastas being made available on the menu. Artisan bakery and food store Baker & Cook’s Bedok branch offers a wonderful variety of baked goods. Whether you’re craving savoury comfort food like a good old Big Breakfast or a convenient and classic Eggs Benedict, there’s bound to be something to tickle your taste buds.

Coffee lovers can enjoy a smooth cold brew, while the Avo Smash with avocado, poached eggs and smoked salmon is also a hit with the brunch crowd.

4. Milk and Honey Gelato Cafe

If you’re having dinner or supper at the super-popular Bedok 85 Food Market, this is where you need to stop for dessert. Popular ice-cream flavours include Speculoos, White Beauty and Cookie Monster, which can be paired with a crispy waffle or a waffle cone. These popular flavours are also sold in pints, along with a few other flavours such as Tiramisu and Black Goma.

It’s open until midnight every day of the week, so it’s great for a late-night dessert run.

This coffee roaster has an exceptional menu, with a wide variety of out-of-the-ordinary drinks ranging from kombucha to prebiotic yuzu and ginger drinks. If you’re adventurous, you can savour creative drinks like Matcha Milo Dinosaur, or opt for a classic espresso if you want something comforting and familiar.

Also on the unique menu are smoked duck and mala soba, chicken satay rolls and light pastries like tea cakes and croissants.

7. Refuel

Tucked away in Bedok Reservoir, Refuel offers simple favourites at great prices (there’s no GST charge). The cafe’s Fuel Me Up breakfast (pictured) is a hearty brunch favourite, with baked eggs, bacon, mushroom, peppers, pork meatballs and tomatoes on toast. Their Creamy Shrimps pasta, thai inspired with onions, chillies, and cheese, is another crowd pleaser.

For drinks, choose from coffee, tea, juices, milkshakes and specialties like Iced Pu-Erh Cream Cheese, if you’re feeling fancy.

8. Marie’s Lapis Cafe

Where Peranakan tradition meets modernity, Marie’s Lapis Cafe serves up a unique fusion of Nyonya and Western cuisine. One of their standout creations is the Buah Keluak Spaghetti—a fusion of Peranakan flavours with the beloved western classic spaghetti.
