In case you missed it, US President-elect and Twitterer Donald Trump is making headlines again. This time, he’d accidentally tagged his daughter Ivanka Trump wrongly, causing a Twitter storm to ensue.
It all happened when Trump reposted a tweet by chiropractor Lawrence Goodstein (@drgoodspine) on January 17. According to CNN, Goodstein commended Ivanka as being a great woman “with real character and class” in his tweet.
However, what Goodstein didn’t realise is that he’s mistakenly tagged the wrong Ivanka. Instead of tagging @IvankaTrump, Goodstein added the wrong Ivanka (@Ivanka) who turned out to be Ivanka Majic from England.
“@drgoodspine: @realDonaldTrump @Ivanka Trump is great, a woman with real character and class.”

Without realising the mistake, Trump retweeted Goodstein to his 20.2 million followers. As if that wasn’t embarrassing enough, his tweet was later re-posted over 7,000 times by other Twitter users in the hours that followed.
Meanwhile in Brighton, England, the wrongly tagged Majic replied to Trump, suggesting that he pay more attention to important affairs like climate change. *Slow clap*
@realDonaldTrump @drgoodspine And you’re a man with great responsibilities. May I suggest more care on Twitter and more time learning about #climatechange. pic.twitter.com/kBMEGZYtig

What can we learn here? We’re glad you’ve asked. The mishap is a good example of how a small oversight on one’s social media profile can spark a series of embarrassing events. To avoid having the same screw-up happen to you, we’re suggesting that you follow the following for your Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and basically any social network accounts now. You can thank us later.
1. Always double check your tags
Think you know your friends’ or favourite celebrities’ Instagram handles by heart? Think again. A good practice will be to search for the individual handles first to confirm that the person you’re tagging hasn’t changed his or her Instagram name recently. You wouldn’t want to end up tagging a complete stranger like Trump did, do you?
2. Always run a spell check
Is it embarassing or embarrassing? We know, spelling can be tough and a typo in your caption can be, well, embarrassing. For the times when you don’t have an English-pro to help you out, always count on the trusty Google search for answers.
3. Always check your geotags
Found a really great brunch place and couldn’t wait to share it with your Instagram followers? Geotagging is a great function for Instagram users to discover new food haunts. Just remember to choose the correct address when geotagging; if not, your followers will end up in the wrong cafe.
4. Avoid being too enthusiastic with your hashtags
So, you’ve got a fabulous morning coffee shot to share with your friends and you’re about to hashtag whatever that comes to mind — #coffee #blackcoffee #deliciouscoffee #yummy #love… the list goes on. Instead of looking like you’re trying too hard to grow your following, focus on a few key ones if you really must add hashtags to your post. Our suggestion? Go for generic ones like #igsg #sgig and #potd.
5. Avoid overdoing the filters
Since there are tons of photo editing apps available for downloads, it can be addictive when it comes to editing your selfies. However, excessive brightening, contouring and contrasting are going to make you look, well, less you. And the last thing you want to hear from your Tinder date is that you look completely different from your photos.
So, remember to go easy. Photo-editing app VSCO, for example, allows you to control the intensity of each filter. By choosing a lower intensity level, your photos are going to look cool but still real at the same time.
With this app, your text messages are going to look so much cooler than before. Valentine’s Day is coming up and if you’re out of ideas on what to wear, be inspired by Instagram stars like Eva Chen, Tina Leung.
