You’ve gotta admit, 2017 has been an eventful year for all of us – Singapore’s first female president was sworn in and we witnessed another royal engagement. Now the time has come for us to finish the final chapter and open up a new one.
New Year’s Eve is always a night to remember with the glamorous parties and spectacle of fireworks – and this year is no different. To help you decide which spot will help make the book of memories, we’ve rounded up a little list of the best spots to see the fireworks (most of them are free). They’re the perfect places to go to with your family, friends, and other half too!
1. Marina Bay
This year’s countdown is a little different with a whole array of activities, like the Prudential Marina Bay Carnival, which has over 40 thrilling carnival rides and games for all ages, and the Market for Artists and Designers (MAAD), which sells everything an art enthusiast would love. But when the clock closes in to midnight, you’ll want a nice place to marvel in the spectacle.
The floating platform will be open for picnic-goers. You can book a spot online or on-site, so you’ll have a front-row seat to the fireworks. With tickets below $10, we’d say it’s a must-go. Otherwise, the rest of the area is completely free for you to admire the pyrotechnics show. And hey, that’s just as good too!

Price: $5.50 online and $8 on-site

2. Faber Peak (Dining on Cloud 9)

Seeing the fireworks on the ground, close-up is one thing – but imagine seeing them under and around you while you’re dining in a cable car.
Sky dining is an intimate dining concept that’s truly out-of-this-world. Kick off the New Year over a delectable 4-Course New Year’s Eve Special Menu. If you’re more about entering 2018 on an exhilarating note, the Celebration Cabins will be the place for you. The cabin comes equipped with all you need to usher in the new year – a bottle of champagne and a decadent dessert platter. Coupled together with the exclusive view of three separate fireworks, you’ll truly be taking a step into 2018, on cloud 9.

Price: 4-Course New Year’s Eve Special Menu ($328++), Celebration Cabins ($498++)
3. Bayswater Kitchen

Yet another spot to catch the fireworks over a scrumptious, relaxing dinner.
Bayswater Kitchen is the new kid on the block which will be celebrating its first holiday season at the breezy Keppel Bay. The waterfront restaurant offers fresh, seasonal produce. And for the season, they’ve come up with a New Year’s Eve menu that’ll wow you while you admire the annual fireworks from the comfort of your seat. The limited 6-dish menu will delight your senses with the cured hokkaido scallop, crab with hand-rolled linguine and more. It’s a relaxing, intimate experience you wouldn’t want to miss.
Where: 2 Keppel Bay Vista, 098382
Price: New Year’s Eve Menu (S$118 per person)

4. Esplanade Roof Terrace
If you happen to be at Marina on New Year’s Eve but absolutely hate crowds, this location is perfect for you. Head up to the roof terrace at the Esplanade. It makes for a romantic scene at night with the dim lighting and lush greenery that encompasses you. Since it’s right next to the bay, it also makes it a prime spot for catching the fireworks.
Plus it’s super near the MRT so you can try your best to avoid the crowds on the way back.
Where: 1 Esplanade Drive, Singapore 038981
5. Marina Barrage
This will make for the perfect, lovey-dovey, laid back New Year’s Eve date. Grab some food or snacks to-go and busk in the views as the sun sets. Even though it’s quite a distance from where the fireworks are, you’ll still be able to see it and really, nothing makes New Year’s Eve as special as it is than spending it with your loved on on a romantic picnic.
P.S, it might get packed, so be sure to catch a spot as early as possible!
Where: 8 Marina Gardens Drive, 018951
6. Gardens by the Bay
Sometimes we just want a quieter way to end off 2017. If that’s the case for you, the East Garden at Gardens by the Bay would be just right for you. Not only is it an ideal spot for catching the fireworks, but it’s also away from the hustle and bustle of New Year’s Eve. On the other hand, it’s located nearby the Downtown Line, and has several bicycle-sharing points so you can easily get back home.
Since the crowds may come in later on, head to the gardens earlier and check out the Flower Dome, which is still nicely decked in festive lights and decorations (in case you’re sill in denial that our fave season is over). Or, you could check out Brand’s Ignight at the Cloud Forest, where you’ll go on a journey of self-discovery – apt for the New Year, if you ask us!
Where: 18 Marina Gardens Drive, Singapore 018953
7. The Pinnacle @ Duxton
It’s the tallest public housing in the area, with an astonishing 50 storeys. Residents of The Pinnacle are lucky to view the annual fireworks from the comfort of their homes. However, that doesn’t mean that you should be losing out too. For less than $10, you can head to the rooftop of The Pinnacle and witness the fireworks as they unfold. All you’ll probably need to pay for is parking! Trust us when we say that this simple experience will be nothing short of breathtaking.
Where: 1 Cantonment Road, 080001
Price: $6 for visitors, free for residents
