1. Buy yourself some flowers

There is absolutely no shame in buying yourself flowers, because we are independent women who can get our own blooms #thankyouverymuch. Fresh flowers can serve to brighten your day and they are indulgent and completely unnecessary, which makes them that much more beautiful! Place them in a vase and plonk it in the centre of your dining table or even your work desk, and use them as a reminder to yourself that you’re in control of your own happiness. You can also pick up a new skill along the way if you sign up for a floral centrepiece or bouquet workshop with Dawn Q., which lets you bring your creations home after.

2. Go on a solo staycay

There’s nothing like a staycation for the ultimate pampering. Here’s the recipe: splurge on a hotel suite, order room service, tuck yourself into those high-thread-count hotel sheets, and let contentment wash over you. Check yourself into JW Marriott Singapore South Beach, which has Singapore’s first all-ladies floor. Guest rooms on this level feature an indulgent stay at a Philippe Starck designed room, and can only be accessed by ladies with a pass. Feel like a queen with the exclusive in-room amenities like a neck warmer, a facial steamer and a mani-pedi kit. But if you’re the sort who needs to be on the go all the time, then there’s always the option of planning an itinerary and rediscovering places you’ve never seen in Singapore. Village Hotel Changi offers a complimentary two-hour bicycle ride as part of their weekend stay promotion, which you can use to traverse around nearby Changi Village.

3. Meet someone new

Now, you are not alone in your singleness. There are tons of people out there who are celebrating S.A.D. like you. Meet like-minded folks at singles-only events like Fall in Hush, which is a silent teabar dating event. Don’t worry if you have the propensity to be at loss for words every time you’re in front of strangers, because here, you sit in silence with another participant – who will be randomly assigned to you – as you engage in a tea tasting session while indulging in sweet treats together. The premise is that the special someone in your life will be someone who will be comfortable in your silence. Alternatively, you can party away at S.E.A. Aquarium with other singles at this Love at S.E.A.A. event. Expect fun and games, food, booze and music by a local band.

4. Have an extravagant spa day

Take yourself away from the hustle and bustle of city life by booking yourself a spa session. Relax your mind and body as you revel in massages, facials or scrubs and come out feeling completely rejuvenated. We love the Beauty Emporium by Spa Espirit. The best part is that it’s located at verdant Dempsey Hill, so you can feel like you’re completely away from city life. Check out their Strawberry Butter Meltdown ($192.60), which involves 90 minutes of soaking in a concoction of berries and warm melted butter. The heat from the melted butter is believed to uncoil your muscle knots while the fresh strawberry sugar scrub helps to slough off your dead skin cells, leaving you all sweetened up. Or if you’re feeling extra indulgent, opt for the Cheeky Chai Detox ($251.45), which features a chai drainage massage that helps you detox any toxic energy and a mud spa combining Dead Sea mud and mixed spices to help flush impurities from your body and boost your lymph circulation while helping you shed some kilos!

5. Go on a shopping spree

Sure, you can hop into any shopping mall and buy yourself something, but why do something so mainstream when you can hipster-fy your shopping experience i.e. visiting one of the many flea markets happening this month? Flea markets are like a treasure trove – you never know what treat you can find. From 10-11 Feb, visit the SOTA Makers Parade for artisanal goods like Wooderful’s wood wares, Naked Reality’s soaps and scrubs, and Aiorimono’s handbags and pouches. On 12 Feb, there’s Singapore’s Really Really Free Market, where everything there is truly free. Think free CDs, books, toy collectibles, and food. There’s even free services like tarot card reading and hair cutting. Share the love and bring your own stuff or skills to share with everyone else too. Also on the 12th is the monthly D’Kranji Market, where you will find passionate farmers selling their fresh produce. There will be a herbalist on site to dispense advice on using herbs for brews, as well as cold pressed juices, diabetic-friendly snacks and spices for sale. If you’re looking for funky and quirky jewellery, kitschy accessories and one-of-a-kind art pieces, visit the Fri-nally Fete gift market held at Baghdad Street this weekend.

6. Feast and be merry

Celebrations are often associated with feasting, so there’s absolutely every reason to go out there and eat – diet be damn! This weekend, Yardbird, the ultra-popular izakaya-style food joint in Hong Kong is organising a pop-up with local smokehouse Meat Smith. Indulge in skewers of delectable meats, while knocking back on sake. On 14th Feb, Hooters is also offering free-flow chicken wings and Buffalo chicken tacos for two hours straight at only $32. Bespoke concierge service The Little Black Book is organising a pop-up at Italian Monti restaurant. Participants are asked to dress according to the La Dolce Vita theme at this brunch session that consists of a family style appetiser, 10 food stations and a DIY Bloody Mary bar that will get you through S.A.D. Lovers of booze, you’ll be pleased as punch to know about this pub crawl happening next Monday night cheekily titled Cupid is Stupid. They will be hitting the city’s four finest bars and then adjourning to a club at the end.
