Smoked Duck Sandwich, $7.80
This beats a regular BLT sandwich any day – we love the tangy blend of spicy-sweet mango chutney paired with slices of flame-grilled meat and topped with caramelised onions, all wrapped in a crusty, toasted baguette. Choose from ciabatta, multigrain bread and squid-ink baguette, if you fancy something more unusual.

Gourmet Food Box (medium), $8.90
Choose from unlimited portions of salads, pastas and rice (so long as it fits into your food box) and top it off with your pick of three meats. While we love the options for proteins (from sliced chicken in a tangy Cajun-style tomato stew to smoked duck breast), it’s the luxurious selection for the base (11 in total, including Mediterranean choices like lemon and garlic rice pilaf) that we adore. Definitely the most value for money!

Smoked Salmon & Spring Onion Quiche, $4.80
Unlike standard-issue quiche – which can sometimes be too rich – this version balances savoury slices of smoked salmon with fragrant spring onions in a warm crumbly tart for a lighter alternative. Nothing over the top – just the way we like it.

Grilled Kebab, $14.90
A welcome change from the usual sandwiches and salads. The minced beef kebab is seasoned with herbs, garlic, black pepper and paprika, and then oven-grilled. As for the sides, the hummus goes wonderfully with the handmade pita bread. There’s also a refreshing Mediterranean salad of tomatoes, cucumbers, capsicum, olives drizzled in lemon juice and olive oil. Good for two if neither of you are feeling particularly hungry.

Burrito, from $9.90
We love bespoke things, like this design-it-yourself burrito: Choose from five types of hearty fillings (these range from the cochinita pibil – slow-roasted pork braised in orange juice, spices and banana leaf – to a New Zealand flank steak), then top it off with any one of the salsas (we recommend the tangy mango pineapple salsa). Feeling indulgent? Top it off with sour cream, cheese or guacamole.
Mexout, #01-01 Far East Square, 39 Pekin Street, Tel: 6536 9953, www.mexout.com.
This Italian flatbread (similar to a tortilla) is paired with parma ham, rucola, tomato and cheese, and drizzled in decadent truffle sauce. Big on flavour, but easy on the stomach, thanks to its manageable portion – it’s slightly smaller than a regular sandwich.
Morsi & Sorsi, #01-02, 51 Telok Ayer Street, Tel: 6222 7530, www.facebook.com/morsiandsorsi.
