Gardens by the Bay’s Mid Autumn Festivities

A post shared by Dotz Soh (@dotzsoh) on

You probably went to Gardens by the Bay’s Christmas Wonderland last December and were blown away (by snowflakes). Well prepare to be amazed once more with the Gardens’ Mid Autumn Festivities set to begin today (Sept 22). Here are three of the several features we recommend.

See the Silver Garden come to life with Illuminations of Joy, a 1,000 light installation created by over 30 beneficiaries from local social service organisations. The installation will not just light up (get it?) the Mid-Autumn nights, but Deepavali as well. Perfect for social media, if we may add.

Then, head to the Colonnade and treat yourself to a spread of delectable local Asian delights. They’re even the perfect background for your next Instagram post with the street-food vibes each stall gives.

Tip: Prepare at least $10 for a bite, or $20 for a satisfied tummy.

End off the day with some music to your ears (literally). Imagine this – the soft lights and gentle moonlight on your face as an enlightening rendition of ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ fills your ears.

At the Garden Rhapsody: Tales of the Moon showcase, you get to hear a medley of popular tunes revolving around the moon, while the garden around you illuminates. While the warm atmosphere boasts a picturesque landscape to pose for photographs, the romantic atmosphere might just actually land you a smooch or two!

When: 22/09/2017 – 08/10 2017, 6.00pm – 11.00pm

Where: Gardens by the Bay, various locations

Price: Free

Flower Dome’s Autumn Harvest

This is for all the nature lovers who HATE the heat. If you’re dying to be sweat-free (like most of us) or prefer to explore in the day, then head to the Flower Dome’s Autumn Harvest instead. Why now? Read on to find out.

As the Mid-Autumn festival dawns upon us, the Flower Dome surprises us with rich hues of orange, red and gold produce and blooms like chrysanthemums and heleniums.

You can finally become Cinderella (yes, even without a Prince) with Cinderella’s pumpkin carriage- the main pumkin-traction amongst the wide variety of pumpkins on display. Afterall, what is fall without our beloved pumpkins?

Local Motion Music Festival

A post shared by Disco Hue (@discohue) on

For those who love music and food with a splash of booze, be sure to head on over to Fort Canning Park for the Local Motion Music Festival.

If indie, retro and electronic pop music is your jam, or you’re all about #supportlocal then you’d love the variety of local acts organisers have in store for you. So grab a picnic mat and re-connect with nature as you take a breather with the help of singer-songwriter Jasmine Sokko’s works, or indie-pop darlings Disco Hue.

A post shared by Jasmine Sokko (@jasminesokko) on

In case you fall in love with one of the acts, feel free to get your hands on some band merch.

Since the festival is presented by local fast-food chain 4Fingers, you might also want to get your hands down and dirty on some fried chicken. Alongside them, we also have the Coffee Bandits to steal your hearts (get it) with hot dogs and coffee, and Kult’s drinks for those who really want to de-stress.

The best part of it all? A portion of the proceeds from the vendors will be donated to a good cause.

When: 22/09/2017 – 08/10 2017, 5.00pm

Where: Fort Canning Park

A post shared by Aude, Ode or Odd (@askafrench) on

For the ladies who want to up their Instagram game, or achieve their dreams of becoming a florist. The workshop held at Shop Wonderland by Aude, a Parisian who owns Ask a French Flowers, will bring up your floral styling (and Instagram) game while enjoying a slice of cake and a nice cuppa.

Using the spiral techniques, you’ll be getting crafty with two little bouquets- one to show off to your mother or hubby at home, and one to deconstruct for the next exciting part!

With your bouquet you’ll learn how to style food with florals (yes it exists!) to bring envy, and of course beauty to your Instagram page – using just your phone and the best editing app. Fret not! You will acquire the editing skills to make your photo truly picture-perfect.

Since it’s a rather rare workshop, be sure to try your hand at this while you still can!
